Spanish Language Arts Teacher, Grades 5-6, Amigos
About the role
The Amigos School seeks to hire a Bilingual (Spanish/English) Language Arts Teacher to join our diverse, committed, and passionate community. This individual will be responsible for providing Spanish Language Support and language arts instruction to students.
Responsibilities
- Provide targeted Spanish language development support and language arts instruction
- Identify and assess students and work in collaboration with the school’s Dual Language Instructional Coach
- Match student needs with appropriate interventions and monitor progress
- Collaborate with teachers, instructional coaches, other specialists, and administrators
- Participate in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, school-wide, and district functions
- Communicate effectively
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university, including coursework in first and second language acquisition
- High levels of native language proficiency in Spanish and English, including listening, speaking, reading, grammar, and writing
- Familiarity and experience with a variety of online platforms
- Creativity and passion for dual language and anti-racist teaching
- Familiarity with and appreciation of middle school students, their needs, and interests
- Previous and successful experience working in a multicultural environment and demonstrated implementation of culturally responsive practices that include students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds
Qualifications
- Appropriate Massachusetts Certification: Foreign Language Certification 5-12 (Spanish), Language Arts, SEI or Two-way Immersion Endorsement

- Ability to work collaboratively and in concert with colleagues
- Ability to communicate effectively
