About the role

The Amigos School seeks to hire a Bilingual (Spanish/English) Language Arts Teacher to join our diverse, committed, and passionate community. This individual will be responsible for providing Spanish Language Support and language arts instruction to students.

Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted Spanish language development support and language arts instruction
  • Identify and assess students and work in collaboration with the school’s Dual Language Instructional Coach
  • Match student needs with appropriate interventions and monitor progress
  • Collaborate with teachers, instructional coaches, other specialists, and administrators
  • Participate in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, school-wide, and district functions
  • Communicate effectively

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university, including coursework in first and second language acquisition
  • High levels of native language proficiency in Spanish and English, including listening, speaking, reading, grammar, and writing
  • Familiarity and experience with a variety of online platforms
  • Creativity and passion for dual language and anti-racist teaching
  • Familiarity with and appreciation of middle school students, their needs, and interests
  • Previous and successful experience working in a multicultural environment and demonstrated implementation of culturally responsive practices that include students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds

Qualifications

  • Appropriate Massachusetts Certification: Foreign Language Certification 5-12 (Spanish), Language Arts, SEI or Two-way Immersion Endorsement

  • Ability to work collaboratively and in concert with colleagues
  • Ability to communicate effectively
