About the role
Prisma International, Inc. (Prisma) is a dynamic and growing language services provider dedicated to delivering exceptional Interpretation solutions to clients worldwide. We are actively seeking experienced Court-Certified Spanish Interpreters to join our team of independent contractors.
Responsibilities
- Provide simultaneous and/or consecutive onsite or video remote interpretation services to Prisma clients in the state of California.
- Specialize in interpreting legal matters, water board hearings, science, engineering, and health.
- Review and understand all necessary background documents prior to assignments.
- Use virtual interpretation tools such as Zoom.
- Operate tabletop sound booths, interpreter control units, FM transmitters, and headset/receivers.
- Communicate politely, enunciate clearly, and maintain high levels of customer service.
- Translate concepts and meanings accurately between the speaker and the Limited English Proficient (LEP) speaker.
- Ensure correct grammar, clarity, and tone between Spanish and English.
- Interject professionally when clarification is needed and manage the flow of a conversation.
- Refrain from side conversations with the LEP and avoid any disagreements with the customer or LEP.
- Maintain a professional appearance, polite demeanor, and punctuality.
- Comply with applicable ethics and standards.
Requirements
- Court-certified in California or U.S. Federal Courts.
- Full fluency in English and Spanish.
- Two years of onsite/video remote simultaneous interpreting experience.
- Professional references confirming your status as a court-certified interpreter.
- Trained or accredited through a higher education institution.
- Minimum age: 18+ years or older.
- Minimum education: High School Diploma.
Qualifications
- Must provide a current court-certified Interpreter certificate upon request.
- Applicants without a current court-certified Interpreter certificate will be disqualified (ineligible).
