Basic Function

Please Note: Kern Community College District accepts applications for part-time, hourly faculty pools on a continuous basis. This allows the division to contact qualified applicants immediately, if a need arises without having to wait for a period of time to advertise. If there is an interest and/or need within the specific department, applicants who meet the minimum requirements will be contacted by respective department supervisors, deans and/or division chairs. Applications submitted will remain active for up to two years.

Representative Duties

  • Staff part-time adjunct positions at various campuses.
  • Develop curriculum and deliver instruction via different modalities.
  • Participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Assess student learning outcomes.
  • Maintain subject matter currency.
  • Use computers and explore new technologies that benefit the program.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's in the language being taught OR
  • Bachelor's in the language being taught AND Master's in another language or linguistics OR
  • The equivalent.

  • Work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues.
  • Work with students with a wide range of skills, motivations, academic, and vocational goals.
  • Develop curriculum.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Assess student learning outcomes.

  • Understand the California community college mission.

International or Foreign Degrees

  • Applicants with international or foreign degrees from colleges or universities outside of the United States must have their coursework evaluated by a professional association that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute, INC. (ACEI). A copy of the evaluation must be submitted with your online application.
