Spanish Immersion Preschool Teacher

About the Role

Serve as the Spanish Immersion Preschool Teacher at NorthPointe Christian Elementary School and actively engage in NorthPointe Christian’s mission of “Equipping students to impact their world for Jesus Christ.” This position is for the 2026-2027 school year.

Responsibilities

• Integrate Biblical principles and Scripture into daily teaching.
• Teach and support the School’s Foundational Statements and mission through word and deed.
• Minister to students through prayer, encouragement, and wise counsel.
• Establish and communicate clear objectives for students in accordance with the curriculum goals and policies of NorthPointe Christian Schools.
• Learn and implement new curriculum when necessary.
• Create and submit daily lesson plans every week.
• Plan learning experiences that help each student achieve the stated objectives, using class time well with engaging activities that have a clear purpose.
• Prepare lessons, units, and projects suitable to the age level and developmental needs of students.
• Adapt teaching methods, strategies, and materials to meet the needs and learning styles of students.
• Create, assign, and grade assessments and assignments for students.
• Define responsible Christian behavior for students, including guidelines and consequences for behavior in the classroom. Create and model an environment of respect and care.
• Help students learn self-discipline through appropriate encouragement, correction, and counseling. Promote a healthy peer environment among students.
• Communicate positively and regularly with parents and guardians about their child’s progress, needs, grades, successes, and challenges via phone, email, or in person.
• Professionally represent the school in interactions with parents, community, staff, and students. Remain professional in attire and behavior.
• Set up, clean, and maintain the classroom as a safe and effective learning environment.
• Provide supervision to students in the classroom and hallways. Follow safety protocols for student locations and building security.
• Be timely in reporting to work and ensure students are punctual when transitioning to and from specials and other school activities.
• Participate in required meetings, school-wide trainings, and events as requested by administration and required by the State.
• Maintain appropriate certifications and training hours as required.
• Work constructively with colleagues and administration by building relationships, contributing ideas, listening to others, and collaborating to meet student needs.
• Collaborate with grade-level teams on shared activities such as field trips, lessons, and theme ideas.
• Collaborate closely with ESS and MTSS teams regarding student needs and interventions.
• Participate in a staff committee.
• Carry out procedures and protocols in the employee handbook and respect decisions made by leadership.
• Maintain open communication with leadership regarding questions, concerns, and needs.
• Teach classes in the Spanish language.
• Use a systemic approach to instruction that prioritizes minority language development to increase bilingual proficiency.
• Outline language targets and infuse them through content instruction.
• Establish a classroom culture that honors the minority language.
• Work in collaboration with the Spanish Immersion Program Coordinator and Add.a.lingua Language First Model.

Requirements

• Active Christian in agreement with and willing to sign the NorthPointe Christian School’s Foundational Statements.
• Valid Teaching Certificate.
• Bachelor’s Degree, minimum.
• Per licensing requirements: TB Vaccine, CPR certification, and 16 hours a year in MiRegistry training.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• Able to pass required background checks and two fingerprint screenings.
• Bilingual: Advanced to superior level if non-native Spanish speaker.

• Frequently stand and sit for extended periods of time.
• Frequently use manual dexterity and/or mobility to grasp and/or manipulate objects, operate equipment, and move around the classroom.
• On occasion, engage with students while kneeling, squatting, stooping, or bending 50-70 degrees at the waist.
• Exert up to 25 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
• Perform daily repetitive movement of fingers and hands when writing and typing.
• Read printed and electronic material daily.
• See with clarity objects using close, distant, and peripheral vision.
• Sufficiently hear conversations in person and distinguish sounds clearly up to 20 feet.
• Must be able to maintain continuous safety of the students and respond quickly and appropriately to any threat toward their well-being.

Work Environment

The work environment is a standard classroom, cafeteria, gymnasium, and/or outdoor setting. The noise level is typically low to moderate, but occasionally high depending upon student population and activities.
