Location: Eglin AFB, FL | Full-time position with 20% travel required.
About the Role
Support the 45 Test Squadron - Space and Intelligence Command and Control Systems Test Flight at Eglin AFB. This position provides engineering expertise for Developmental Test & Evaluation (DT&E) of Space Command and Control (C2) and Space Domain Awareness systems, including Deep Space Advanced Radar Capability (DARC), ATLAS, and other United States Space Force portfolio systems.
Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and report on Developmental Test & Evaluation activities for Space C2 and Space Domain Awareness systems.
- Conduct data analysis and apply engineering technology under direction of engineering staff, including test and evaluation, test support, logistics, sustainment, operations analyses, technical studies, and various analyses (e.g., cost/price, program/system security).
- Interface with Space Command and Control Program-level working groups on inputs and recommendations.
- Assist in developing system requirements, performance measures, test phase entry/exit criteria, and analysis of design constraints, functional capabilities, and metrics.
- Support DT&E, Operational Test (OT), Force Development Evaluation (FDE), Risk Reduction Testing (RRT), and certification for test readiness; identify deficiencies, verify compliance with specifications and standards, and assess system configuration stability.
- Support or develop agile test strategies and methods.
- Support senior engineers in interactions with System Program Offices, other services, and development contractors.
- Prepare, execute, review, and analyze test plans, procedures, metrics, and reports throughout the software development life cycle.
- Develop and write methods of test, Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), test cases, test objectives/procedures, test directives, technical or letter reports, and other test process documents.
- Coordinate schedules, pre- and post-test activities, logistics of test planning, and test results.
- Travel up to 20% of the time to contractors' facilities, test sites, and other locations (OCONUS and CONUS).
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in a technical field and 3–10 years of applicable experience. Additional experience may substitute for education.
- Active Secret clearance; must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Relevant technical experience in at least one of the following: space operations, astrodynamics, or space sensors.
- Ability to interface with prime contractors on test objectives, schedules, budgets, and methods of test.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively on a team and lead or direct the work of others.
Skills
- Experience writing programs or scripts for simulation, data parsing, data reduction, automated testing, or test scripts.
- Proficiency with MATLAB and/or other data visualization and computational tools.
- Familiarity with programming languages (e.g., FORTRAN, Java, Python, C/C++) or software development, particularly service-oriented architecture, web services, and computer network protocols.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
Desired Qualifications
- Current and active Top Secret Security Clearance with Special Compartmented Information (SCI) access.
- Experience with AFSCN, AST, DARC, ATLAS, JMS, SPADOC, Space Command and Control (C2), and Space Domain Awareness or On-Orbit Operations.
- Experience with Combatant Commanders Integrated Command and Control System (CCIC2S) and space surveillance network messaging.
- Knowledge of satellite observation association and orbit determination.
- Experience with agile software development methods and practices.
- Knowledge of or experience with Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center (AFOTEC) or other DoD operational test agency concepts, procedures, and methodologies.
- Experience obtaining data from databases using Structured Query Language (SQL).
- Experience related to DoD C4ISR system acquisition, systems engineering, and test engineering.
- Experience interfacing with developmental contractors on test objectives, schedules, budgets, and methods of test.
