Space Science: Formation of Habitable Planets
About the role
The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA’s missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology.
Responsibilities
Research proposals should address topics related to planetary habitability, including the formation and evolution of planets in binary star systems, the delivery of volatiles to rocky planets, and the impact of Jupiter-like planets on smaller planets. Candidates will work closely with advisors such as Jack Lissauer to develop and execute their research projects.
Requirements
- A completed Doctoral degree in a relevant field.
- Strong research background and publication record.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Interest in NASA’s mission areas.
Qualifications
- Passport holder from a Designated Country.
- U.S. Citizenship, U.S. LPR, Foreign Nationals eligible for an Exchange Visitor J-1 visa status, or Applicants for LPR, asylees, or refugees in the U.S. at the time of application with valid EAD card and I-485 or I-589 forms in pending status.
