About the role

Under the general direction of the Manager of Space Management or Senior Space Planning Analyst, you will work as a cross-functional team member providing merchandising insight to the procurement team to plan and implement products with a speed-to-shelf emphasis. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining accurate planograms across assigned product categories for company stores, using space planning and database software. You will ensure sales, margin performance, and labor efficiencies of planograms are optimized through knowledge of product assortment, merchandising, and effective visual display standards—potentially impacting hundreds of thousands of dollars in profit.

Responsibilities

  • Creates and manages planograms at the store level for all product categories using space planning software according to merchandising and planogram standards.
  • Analyzes performance metrics, such as days of supply, margins, and sales, to provide recommendations that identify potential opportunities to improve productivity of space to the buying department.
  • Coordinates and implements rollout of new planograms, resets, remodels, and new store openings with store management, suppliers, and distributors.
  • Maintains a comprehensive database of store planograms, accurately capturing product attributes and merchandising information (e.g., product dimensions, description, size, etc.).
  • Liaises with buyers, floor planners, store managers, suppliers, and distributors to develop accurate planograms that optimize sales and margin performance.
  • Communicates planogram changes to the floor plan team.
  • Provides support for all space management activities (e.g., category resets, new store merchandising, special projects, etc.).
  • Creates communication documents for store merchandising execution.
  • Works with Assortment Analysts for assigned categories on a review basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising or related field OR equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience in addition to the experience listed below.
  • At least 2 years of retail merchandising experience.
  • Knowledge of store operations, distribution, and logistics; technical retail skills; and the ability to interpret market research and produce performance.
  • Merchandising experience in a variety of different retail settings.
  • Understanding of how planograms are used at the store level and how store sets/resets are conducted.
  • Working knowledge of Blue Yonder/JDA, Symphony i2e, and/or Apollo Suites software.
  • Understanding of how to build a planogram in data, structure, and fixture.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Suites software.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills necessary to interact with all levels of internal and external team members and customers.
  • Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment.
  • Analytical skills to assess sales, margin performance, shrink, and labor efficiencies of planograms.
  • Detail-oriented with the potential to impact hundreds of thousands of dollars in profit.
  • Ability to plan and manage projects, such as remodels and resets.
  • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with fellow employees, outside contacts, user groups, and vendors.
  • Clear and succinct writing and speaking skills for a variety of communication settings.
  • Ability to respectfully challenge standard practices to identify improved processes.
  • Willingness to travel extensively for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work graveyard/overnight and weekend schedules as required depending on project needs.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally, bend at the waist and twist upper body frequently, and perform repetitive use of hands continually.
  • Acceptable Department of Motor Vehicles driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Blue Yonder/JDA certification.
  • CPCA, CPCM, or CPSA Certification.
  • MBA.
