Spa Therapist

About the role

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Boston within the Spa Department, the Spa Therapist is responsible for providing personal assistance to guests arriving for their reserved spa treatments. The incumbent will meet and exceed guest expectations by delivering efficient and courteous service in accordance with Legendary Quality Experiences, representing the brand at all times.

The Spa Therapist reports to the Director of Spa and Wellness and Spa Managers, receiving instruction from the lead Spa Therapist.

Responsibilities

• Perform treatments on guests while maintaining their comfort at all times.
• Be punctual for appointments and thoroughly review appointments after completing each treatment.
• Maintain a clean and neat work area at all times.
• Follow all Standards and Procedures as taught by Legendary trainers or Therapy trainer.
• Ensure a high standard of service is maintained throughout the Spa.
• Replenish all necessary consumables, items, and supplies; ensure furniture, fixtures, and equipment are well-maintained and in perfect working condition.
• Report any breakage, damage, or loss to Spa management and notify colleagues concerning repairs or additions to spa operations.
• Operate equipment needed for therapist duties while following safety protocols.
• Request, collect, and manage stock and supplies in accordance with par stock levels for treatment rooms.
• Maintain all departmental assets, ensuring items are cleaned, checked out, and returned to appropriate storage or treatment rooms.
• Stay informed about ongoing spa promotions and activities to assist guests and residents effectively.
• Maintain full awareness and adherence to health, safety, and hygiene regulations, including chemicals and solutions used at work.
• Anticipate guests' needs to provide exceptional and unique guest experiences in line with MOHG standards.
• Support the spa team in providing a seamless journey for all spa guests.
• Show cooperation and support to all hotel and Residences colleagues.
• Attend all necessary training courses and adhere to training set by the Spa Director.
• Courteously interact with guests and answer all spa and hotel-related questions.
• Perform all treatments to the highest standards.
• Stay current with developments, procedures, and news through hotel communication channels.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts-issued massage therapy license.
• Corresponding work experience in a similar position, preferably in a luxury setting.
• Maintain a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• Exhibit excellent communication and organization skills.
• Reading, writing, and oral proficiency in the English language.
• Ability to stand for the majority of the shift.

Pay

The rate of pay for this position is $14.81 per hour, with an additional 17% commission for each treatment performed, plus gratuity at the discretion of each guest.
