About the Role
Assist the Spa Director in providing leadership, direction, and supervision of staff in the daily operations of the Spa. Oversee coordination of all providers, scheduling, product inventory, and ordering. Directly supervise massage therapists and aestheticians while providing consistent leadership to the Salon, Spa Coordinator, and Attendant team.
Responsibilities
- Full working knowledge of spa, wellness, and fitness treatments/programs, staying aware of advancements in the field to make decisions on new treatments and products.
- Understand resort and hotel features, services, outlets, hours of operation, activities, and events available to guests.
- Maintain base knowledge of financial planning, forecast, labor, and payroll for areas of responsibility.
- Assist and help in each department of the Spa as needed.
- Act as an active member of the spa management team.
- Effectively handle internal and external guests with patience, tact, and diplomacy.
- Provide leadership to spa coordinators, spa and pool attendants, and salon service providers (hair stylists, nail technicians).
- Staffing responsibilities including interviewing, selecting, motivating, and evaluating staff; conducting performance evaluations and disciplinary procedures.
- Disseminate daily information regarding VIPs, group activities, operational issues, and general news to appropriate staff.
- Manage scheduling, timesaver edits, and payroll for all direct reports.
- Hold Spa meetings and trainings as necessary; orient and train new staff members.
- Daily, weekly, and monthly budget management; maintain budget and forecast guidelines.
- Develop and uphold retail sales processes and goals for at-home care for all service providers.
- Assist spa retail coordinator with retail product ordering to ensure a never-out philosophy.
- Manage ordering and inventory for salon professional supplies, guest supplies, and linen to maximize revenue.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and groups to ensure spa and resort success.
- Answer phones, assist guests at the desk, troubleshoot scheduling issues, and provide tours to guests or VIPs.
- Oversee spa reservations and communicate with the spa group sales coordinator to maintain proper staffing levels.
- Adjust provider schedules to maximize daily revenues within budgetary guidelines.
- Maintain operating standards as outlined in division SOP guidelines and Five Star/Diamond standards.
- Read, write, and update SOPs; ensure staff understanding and compliance.
- Maintain high standards for uniforms, retail, protocols, and overall integrity in the spa and resort.
- Conduct daily walkthroughs to ensure impeccable cleanliness and address maintenance or repair needs.
- Execute all licensed services on the menu and uphold integrity of salon services with staff.
- Attend required meetings including daily line-ups, departmental, pre-cons, division, and weekly staff meetings.
- Perform special projects or assignments as directed by the Spa Director or Hotel Management.
- Foster a spirit of teamwork and willingly accept additional responsibilities.
- Communicate needs and ideas to upper management and instill a sense of safety and awareness within staff.
- Oversee the upkeep of safety and MSDS binders for massage and esthetics.
Requirements
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and organize work assignments and special projects.
- Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations and decipher various reports; may need to create reports upon request.
- Weekend availability; flexible schedule based on business demands.
- Strong communication skills and proven leadership qualities.
- Ability to evaluate staff performance and provide corrective follow-up.
- Strong customer service skills and ability to handle problems involving clients and operational issues with a positive attitude.
- Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments effectively in stressful, high-pressure situations.
Qualifications
- Minimum two years’ experience in a Spa environment with cumulative experience in different salon/spa services.
- Minimum two years’ experience in a management or leadership position.
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience; college education preferred.
- CPR certification, management training program, and computer training preferred.
- Cosmetology License or Massage Therapist License from the State of California preferred but not mandatory.
Pay
Base Pay Start Rate: $85,000 - $90,000 per year plus bonus incentive.
