Support communications with youth and families engaged with or potentially engaged with Southern Word’s programs.
Serve as coordinating support to ensure smooth and accurate functions of all Southern Word’s residencies, workshops, programs, and events.
Effectively represent Southern Word’s work and values to the community in one-on-one, small group, and large presentation settings.
Facilitate and lead development and fundraising activities in partnership with staff, board, and volunteers.
Support activities that build community around Southern Word’s work and introduce the work to new contributors.
Develop and execute engagement activities for Southern Word staff and mentors.
Manage and enhance systems for planning and scheduling.
Participate in team building and executing the overall Southern Word strategy.
Execute additional responsibilities as necessary for the success of the team.

Bachelor’s degree preferred.
One or more years experience in a professional setting with demonstrated success implementing new projects.
Ability to self-direct and thrive in unstructured settings by prioritizing activities with maximum impact.
Aptitude for developing and maintaining effective relationships with a variety of partners in diverse settings.
Responsive and adept via e-mail, text, phone, and social media.
Excellent organizational skills are necessary.
Ability to work positively with team members to reach goals.
Comfortable with programs such as Microsoft Excel, MyEmma, Zoom, and Box.
The ability to develop and teach writing programs is a definite plus.
Multilingual capabilities are a plus.
Interest in growing with a growing organization.
Flexibility and positivity in the face of shifting situations.
Familiarity with Middle Tennessee programs and communities preferred.
