Responsibilities
- Maintains proper and adequate set-up of the bar on a daily basis, including requisitioning and stocking beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws, stirrers, condiments, and produce based on daily function projections.
- Responsible for maintaining stock, cutting, and storing all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices, and other perishables daily to ensure product quality.
- Greets guests courteously, promotes and documents drink orders, mixes and garnishes drinks using standard recipes, and practices prudent portion control.
- Abides by all State, Federal, and Corporate requirements for serving alcoholic beverages.
- Inputs orders into a register at the point of sale, creates guest checks, and maintains accountability for all beverages served, including those served by other beverage servers.
- Handles cash transactions, makes change, verifies charge validity, records charges, and ensures proper voucher execution to balance all money.
- Locks and stores all beverage, food, and equipment items; deposits cash drops and secures the bank.
- Complies with attendance rules and is available to work on a regular basis.
- Performs any other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Hotel experience preferred.
- Must communicate well with guests.
- Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages.
- Basic mathematical skills to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count banks, prepare cash drops, and understand portion sizes.
- Sufficient manual dexterity to use a knife for garnishes, handle glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and retrieve stock overhead, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to remember, recite, and promote menu items with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to operate a keyboard and point-of-sale system to pre-check and close out orders with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, customers, and patrons.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication style for different audiences.
