About the role

We are seeking a Sous Chef to support the culinary operations for student dining at the University of North Carolina Asheville. In this role, you will assist in the supervision, preparation, and cooking of various food items, develop daily menu items, and ensure their proper preparation and garnishment. You may supervise hourly associates, collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop new menus, and assist with ordering. Responsibilities

• Assist the Executive Chef and culinary team with managing cost controls and expenditures for the account
• Assist in planning and creating menus
• Produce and execute catering events
• Roll out new culinary programs in conjunction with the marketing and culinary teams
• Foster strong client relationships to align programs with their objectives, driving satisfaction and retention
• Perform other duties as assigned to support efficient dining service operations

Qualifications

• A.S. degree or equivalent experience
• Culinary or kitchen management experience, depending on formal degree or training
• High-volume, complex foodservice operations experience (highly desirable)
• Institutional and batch cooking experience (helpful)
• Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
• Computer proficiency
• ServSafe® Certified

Pay

$60,000 - $65,000
