Sourcing Manager - Contract Manufacturing

About the role

As the Strategic Sourcing Manager for Contract Manufacturing, you will lead the global sourcing strategy for contract manufacturing, including identification, evaluation, and negotiations with suppliers to ensure the delivery of efficient and effective sourcing solutions that support our organizational goals. Reporting to the Internal & External Manufacturing Business Partner, you will develop and execute strategic sourcing initiatives, manage supplier relationships, and drive cost optimization and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute global strategic sourcing initiatives, responsible for cost optimization, supplier performance, and risk management.
• Lead supplier evaluations, negotiations, and contract management (end-to-end) to ensure best-in-class procurement practices.
• Analyze large datasets related to procurement, supplier performance, and market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities and operational efficiencies.
• Utilize data analytics tools to generate insights, create reports, and support strategic decision-making.
• Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams to align sourcing strategies with business objectives; act as a trusted advisor and thought leader.
• Understand and influence business needs to drive procurement strategies that support enterprise priorities proactively.
• Establish and manage key supplier relationships to enhance quality, innovation, and long-term value.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, risk mitigation strategies, and sustainability initiatives.
• Work effectively with internal stakeholders and suppliers, demonstrating strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Work closely with the Procurement Commercial Category team to ensure sourcing execution aligns with the overall procurement strategy.
• Provide guidance to junior team members and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
• Guide and facilitate collaboration across cross-functional teams and regional stakeholders to meet organizational needs.
• Ensure all Contract Manufacturing procurement activities comply with regulatory, contractual, and operational risk requirements.
• Partner with Legal, Compliance, Data Privacy, and Cybersecurity teams to maintain oversight of risk mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing peers to oversee complex negotiations for contracts, ensuring proper processes and frameworks for RFPs, supplier evaluations, and contract development.
• Deliver results aligned with financial targets set by the Category Team, while informing cost savings forecasting through strategic sourcing.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Doctorate degree and 1 year of Sourcing experience, OR
• Master’s degree and 2 years of Sourcing experience, OR
• Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of Sourcing experience, OR
• Associate’s degree and 5 years of Sourcing experience, OR
• High school diploma / GED and 8 years of Sourcing experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proven Strategic Sourcing Experience.
• Strong Supplier Negotiation skills.
• Experience with Global Procurement e-Sourcing and CLM Tools (e.g., Workday Strategic Sourcing, Sirion Labs).
• Project Management Experience—able to lead teams that cut across geographic and functional boundaries.
• Demonstrated leadership in sourcing Contract Manufacturing, including vendor management, cost optimization, and performance measurement.
• Experience negotiating with suppliers endemic to Life Sciences, including Academic Institutions.
• Deep understanding of sourcing management principles, supplier relationship management, and contract lifecycle management.
• Experience leading large, cross-functional teams and managing complex global projects in a matrixed environment.
• Strong financial, legal, and contractual fluency to navigate Contract Manufacturing services agreements.
• Exceptional ability to communicate sourcing strategies and influence stakeholders.
• Familiarity with procurement platforms such as Ariba, ERP systems, and advanced analytics tools.
• Understanding of regulatory landscapes with the ability to navigate and manage compliance requirements.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted on the careers site. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
