Sourcing Manager
About the role
We are seeking a Sourcing Manager with a strong background in direct sourcing team supervision to lead, develop, and enable a professional team of sourcing specialists responsible for the sourcing of the company’s materials. This role oversees daily sourcing activities, ensuring internal customer satisfaction in meeting the company's solar panel efficiency, capital improvement, maintenance, and operational excellence needs. You will provide guidance to professional staff supporting internal business teams across multiple states and jurisdictions in cost-effective service, optimized delivery of shared services, business technical specification and process standardization, effective supplier engagement, and contract coordination.
Responsibilities
- Ensure efficient and cost-effective supply chain operations from the sourcing team.
- Work closely with Legal, Engineering, Production, and Quality Assurance teams to understand material requirements and align procurement strategies with production needs and product quality.
- Manage and source new supplier development programs while maintaining current supplier commercial communication to meet production needs.
- Utilize negotiation and accountability skills to build effective vendor relationships.
- Manage tracking for new supplier program costs and timing; organize regular management reviews to ensure programs stay within budget and launch on time.
- Support cost reduction and other business improvement initiatives.
- Create Requests for Quotation (RFQs); meet with vendors and select them based on price, service, and ability to meet production needs.
- Process purchase requisitions from internal departments and ensure proper approvals before placing orders.
- Identify and communicate issues arising from the supply of materials and services with both vendors and internal material teams.
- Monitor, evaluate, and analyze vendor and supplier performance to ensure quality and delivery requirements are met.
- Manage supplier relationships and update management on any vendor issues.
- Perform new vendor and material cost evaluations for management review.
- Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop contingency plans to mitigate disruptions.
- Stay informed about market changes and supply chain dynamics that may impact procurement activities.
- Maintain awareness and use of SAP (ERP system).
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned by Management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or an acceptable combination of education and progressively responsible experience.
- 3-5 years of work experience in sourcing, purchasing, or supply chain in an administrative capacity.
- Ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills with all levels of the organization.
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, confidentially, diplomatically, and professionally.
- Computer literacy, including effective working skills with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Experience working with multicultural teams.
- CPSM certification or equivalent program.
- Experience managing raw materials procurement, especially chemicals and gases.
- Knowledge of contract law, commercial terms and conditions, and related legal issues.
