Sourcing Engineer

About the Role

As a Sourcing Engineer, you will collaborate with Genie’s Global Engineering, Operations, and Sourcing teams to support the execution of strategic programs across New Product Development, Manufacturing Footprint, Engineering Strategic Projects & New Technology Development, and Cost Out. This role ensures the Global Sourcing strategy is integrated into these programs and advocates for design and footprint decisions that enable a resilient, flexible, high-quality, and cost-competitive global supply chain.

Responsibilities

• Support strategic programs end-to-end to ensure cost and performance optimization, parts availability, and meeting performance, cost, and quality metrics.
• Provide thought leadership and drive strategic initiatives with internal stakeholders and suppliers to support supply chain objectives.
• Lead the development of the supply chain strategy for early-stage NPD and other engineering projects with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with project targets while following global sourcing and make/buy strategies.
• Facilitate the NPD supplier selection process, verifying the appropriate supplier is chosen to meet commercial, quality, technical, and financial requirements.
• Lead weekly sourcing project reviews, covering plan-to-actual cost estimation, sourcing progress, and prototype procurement.
• Provide ad-hoc analysis, including should-cost modeling and make/buy business cases.
• Provide sourcing recommendations, ensuring awards are approved by global sourcing leadership.
• Enlist Category Managers to protect commercial and IP interests.
• Mentor and lead NPD Buyers to execute the RFQ and selection process and prototype procurement.
• Develop and execute sourcing engineering process improvements and toolsets.
• Perform other duties as needed to support the overall objectives of the position.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience leading cross-functional operations programs such as NPD, product line duplication, vertical integration, or strategic sourcing.
• Proven capability operating in a growing, fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
• Demonstrated experience solving problems by identifying root causes and implementing sustainable, effective countermeasures.
• Ability to work with minimal technical supervision and respond efficiently to multiple program priorities.
• Analytical problem-solving skills focused on continuous improvement of strategy and business processes.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing waste reduction methods (e.g., Kanban, Jidoka, Poka-Yoke, Heijunka, Kaizen).
• Influence and leadership skills with experience building lasting relationships with functional partners.
• Proficiency in business tools (Word, Excel modeling, PowerPoint).
• Proficient in GD&T, able to read and interpret 2D technical drawings and 3D models.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills (primarily English).
• Ability to travel globally up to 25% in a month.
• Schedule flexibility to participate in or lead project discussions to meet global time requirements (early weekday mornings or evenings).

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated track record in basic manufacturing processes associated with mobile equipment supply chain management.
• Experience in supplier management and procurement.
• Demonstrated results from cost savings, continuity of supply, or quality improvement initiatives via supply category management.
• Experience analyzing and guiding sound business decisions based on research, data, and other inputs.
• Proficiency with IT tools and applications, including Microsoft Office suite and Project Management software.
• Advanced knowledge of Genie engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and other relevant business processes, products, and services.
• Ability to work effectively in a multi-dimensional, matrixed organization.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $124,000.00 - $186,000.00, based on factors such as education, work experience, and certifications. This role is also eligible for a performance bonus.
