About the role
Maverick Real Estate Partners is a data-driven private equity fund manager that invests in distressed debt secured by commercial real estate. We are seeking a driven and relationship-oriented Sourcing Associate to join our Investments Team.
Responsibilities
- Generate Deal Flow: Generate proprietary deal flow by leveraging lead lists to identify early-stage distress and initiate timely outreach.
- Develop Relationships: Cultivate and deepen relationships with banks, private lenders, and brokers through consistent engagement, including phone calls, in-person meetings, industry conferences, and social events.
- Qualify Deals: Perform back-of-the-envelope underwriting to calibrate pricing expectations before passing deals to the underwriting team.
- Develop Investment Ideas: Gather information from investment opportunities and relationship intelligence, and collaborate with team members to develop investment theses.
Requirements
- Experience: Four to six years of CRE investment sales or debt brokerage, loan sales/acquisitions, or other sourcing experience in New York City. Existing relationships with lenders or special assets officers are a plus.
- Sense of Urgency: Bias toward action. Someone who moves quickly, is systematic, and follows through consistently.
- Communication: Strong communicator who is responsive, proactive, and keeps all stakeholders informed.
- Curiosity: An intellectual curiosity and desire to continuously learn. Someone who is always asking questions, seeking to understand context, and going beyond the surface to get to the right answer.
- Interpersonal Effectiveness: A natural ability to connect with people, hold substantive conversations, and leave a lasting impression. Someone who earns trust quickly and maintains it over time.

- Compensation will include a base salary of $150,000 plus bonus.
