Position Summary

The Orlando Health Women’s Institute is a comprehensive healthcare provider focusing on women's unique medical needs. Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervises the sonography team in an acute or ambulatory department.
  • Makes sure all daily operations, staffing, performance management, and operational functions are monitored.
  • Manages human resource functions including hiring, work assignments, coaching plans, and disciplinary actions.
  • Provides team members with in-services, training, education, and orientation.
  • Aids in representing sonography to management regarding equipment choices, technical issues, and personnel issues.
  • Works closely with physicians in performing sonography exams.
  • Led daily operational problem resolution and assists in decision-making.
  • Aids in budget preparation, improvement, and management activities.
  • Ensures compliance with Quality Control standards and participates in corporate workgroup committees.
  • Maintains records for The Joint Commission and participates in process improvement initiatives.
  • Monitors application of sterile technique and infection control practices.
  • Applies appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases.
  • Ensures safety of all customers.
  • Maintains inventory as needed for the department.
  • Assists with patient care as necessary to ensure quality customer experience.
  • Compiles, monitors, and analyzes data for critical success factors, Joint Commission, and budget variance reports.
  • Collaborates with other department supervisors and staff to improve diagnostic quality and patient care.
  • Develops new techniques and protocols.
  • Fulfills the role of Director or Manager when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Education/Training: Associate degree required. Meeting ARDMS and/or CCI guidelines is required.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current BLS/HealthCare Provider Certification is required. Must maintain one of the following: RDMS, RDCS, RVT, RCS, RCCS, RVS through ARDMS or RCS, RDCS, RVT, RCS, RCCS, RVS through CCI.
  • Experience: 2 years of experience working in sonography required.
  • Knowledge: Expertise in sonography and demonstrates competency in procedures pertinent to the department. Knowledge of equipment operations and maintenance is required.
