About the role
This position involves performing diagnostic medical sonography to provide patient care, ensuring accurate differentiation between normal and pathological findings. The role includes reviewing physician orders, explaining procedures to patients, maintaining a clean and organized environment, and ensuring imaging quality meets standards.
The sonographer operates ultrasound equipment, manages patient flow, and documents procedures accurately. They communicate findings to physicians, handle billing, and troubleshoot equipment issues. Mentoring new staff and students, adhering to safety protocols, and maintaining HIPAA compliance are essential responsibilities.

Qualifications
- Completion of accredited radiology or sonography program
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) credential required
- BLS certification
- Proficiency in EMR, PACS, and basic office equipment
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
- Knowledge of ultrasound equipment, patient care procedures, and safety standards
Skills
Experience in sonography preferred but not required; clinical experience advantageous. Ability to handle emergency situations, troubleshoot equipment, and mentor colleagues.
This is a non-management position reporting to a supervisor or manager.
