Sonographer, PRN

About the Role

The Sonographer operates imaging equipment and software, primarily ultrasound equipment, to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role requires proficiency in operating imaging equipment, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining high-quality imaging standards. A strong commitment to patient care, technical expertise, and collaborative communication with patients and healthcare professionals is essential to provide optimal care.

Responsibilities

• Operate imaging equipment, primarily ultrasound, to produce diagnostic images.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort during imaging procedures.
• Adhere to protocols and make adjustments as needed for optimal imaging results.
• Follow machine emergency procedures and radiation safety protocols.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of imaging procedures.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of Sonography with completed required clinical hours.
• One (1) year of relevant experience.
• State licensure may be required depending on the specific state of practice.
• Certifications/Registrations: ARDMS, ARRT, or CCI, and 2 applicable advanced registries/certifications within the applicable work area.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• In Arkansas, ARDMS-RVT, CCI-RVS, or ARRT-VS may be required within 12 months of hire or transfer depending on the scope of the role.

• Knowledge of imaging protocols and ability to make adjustments as needed.
• Familiarity with safe and proper machine operation and emergency procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Flexibility to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
