Responsibilities
- Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
- Affords assistance to physicians with invasive procedures, adhering to universal protocol standards.
- Interacts with patients and co-workers, demonstrating caring, listening, dignity, and respect.
- Communicates instructions clearly to patients, alleviating their fears regarding procedures.
- Ensures exams are properly coded, tracked, networked, and charges are entered.
- Identifies patients using two identifiers and reviews patient history and physician orders.
- Documents patient history in electronic records as required.
- Might handle High-Level Disinfection of devices, supplies, and equipment.
- Executes technical ultrasound procedures, utilizing appropriate instrumentation and techniques.
Requirements
- Completion of formal training in an Ultrasound program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
- Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, and UPMC clearance.
