About the role
Performs diagnostic ultrasound imaging studies in a hospital setting, adhering to department guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Conducts ultrasound procedures and explains tests to patients.
- Assesses patient history and documents findings in EMR/PACS.
- Ensures accurate billing and supports department development by participating in new protocols.
- Evaluates equipment and educates staff on best practices.
- Maintains safety and infection control standards, disinfects equipment, and reports risks.
- Provides service excellence through respectful communication, confidentiality, and efficient patient care.
- Contributes to performance improvement through data collection, resource management, and process enhancement.
- Delivers age-appropriate and specialized care, including restraint, pain, and abuse assessments.
- Assists with departmental operations, clerical tasks, safety surveys, and equipment troubleshooting.
Requirements
- Completion of an accredited Sonography program.
- 2+ years’ experience preferred.
- Valid ARDMS or CCI registries in Abdomen, OB/GYN, Breast, Echo, or Vascular.
- BLS certification.
- Relevant ARDMS certifications.
Skills
- Proficiency with ultrasound equipment, EMR systems, and billing.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to handle physical demands, maintain safety standards, and work under varying conditions.
Licenses & Certifications
- Valid ARDMS or equivalent registry.
- BLS certification.
- State-specific licensure as required.
Work Environment
This role involves exposure to infectious materials and hazards. Requires physical endurance, manual dexterity, and strict adherence to safety and quality standards.
