Job Summary
The Sommelier will have a deep understanding of wines and beverages, as well as the ability to enhance the dining experience for our guests through expert recommendations and pairings. This role requires a strong commitment to customer service, attention to detail, and a love for the culinary arts.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Sommelier and Restaurant Manager in curating and maintaining the wine list
- Assist with wine service and guide guests through wine selections with thoughtful recommendations tailored to their tastes
- Assist with staff wine knowledge and tastings, keeping the team informed and confident in their wine knowledge
- Assist with wine inventory: ordering, receiving, tracking par levels, updating menus, and proper storage
- Execute wine pairings for special menus, private events, and promotions
- Elevate the overall beverage program by suggesting opportunities for upselling, rare finds, and featured pours
- You are eager to learn from Head Sommelier and assist senior members with supervising the setting up and clearing down after each dining experience
- Assists in maintaining beverage department policies and procedures to control beverage and labor costs while maintaining quality product, presentation and service
- Maintain inventory of all Wine product
- Responsible for the day to day requisitioning of stocks which ensure consistent quality and cost-effective management of the hotel/resorts catering services
- Oversee the storage and organization of all wine products, adhering to the proper organization and temperature standards
- Assist with service ensuring that every moment exceeds expectations
- To assist with any other duties that are required by the member of the management team
Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements
- At least 3 years’ experience at a similar level.
- Excellent Communication skills
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a restaurant with recognized high standards.
- Workplace training from within a high standard hotel environment.
- Experience in 5*, upmarket resort would be an advantage but not a requirement.

Physical Requirements
The ideal candidate must be able to perform all physical requirements of the job in a safe manner, with or without reasonable accommodation. Physical requirements include, but are not limited to:
- Standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and bending in an operational environment for extended periods
- Frequent bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, and pulling
- Lifting and carrying of loads weighing up to 50 pounds
- Working in outdoor environments, including high altitudes, that may present extreme weather conditions such as snow, ice, rain, heat, wind, etc.
