Position Summary
The Solutions Engineer (SE) is responsible for clearly communicating the various products and technologies within the Bluebird Fiber product portfolio during pre and post-sales customer interactions; also responsible for post-sales customer follow-up interactions to ensure products and/or solutions work as communicated. The SE will provide technical assistance on day-to-day solutions design and Request for Pricing (RFP) response assistance to the Bluebird Enterprise Sales Teams. The SE will collaborate with Sales, Network Engineering, and Architecture teams to design, present, and implement solutions that meet customer requirements for scalability, reliability, and performance.
Qualifications & Competencies
- 3+ years of experience in fiber network design and engineering
- Strong understanding of networking protocols (Ethernet, IP, MPLS, BGP) and optical technologies (DWDM)
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Excellent communication skills for customer-facing interactions and technical presentations
- Strong organizational, project, and matrix management skills; ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment; occasional overnight travel required
- Strong PC skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
- General knowledge of the mechanics of Google Earth and/or outside plant tools
- Experience with voice networking, focusing on VoIP, signaling protocols, PBX and Unified Communications
- Experience with Firewalls, SD-WAN, and managed WiFi
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Core Responsibilities
- Partner with sales teams to identify customer requirements and deliver technical presentations, proposals, and solution designs
- Develop high-level and detailed network designs for fiber-based solutions including Ethernet, IP, MPLS, DWDM and Dark Fiber connectivity
- Provide consultative guidance on fiber backhaul, dark fiber and lit services
- Work closely with Network Engineering, Operations and Product Management on emerging technologies and strategic initiatives
- Maintain accurate network documentation and solution guides for internal teams and customers
- Ensure successful implementation and integration of solutions; provide technical support during deployment and troubleshooting
- Provide support for customer appreciation events and other marketing events
