Position Summary

The Solutions Engineer (SE) is a member of the Business Development Team responsible for clearly communicating Bluebird Fiber's products and technologies during pre and post-sales customer interactions, providing post-sales customer follow-up, and assisting with RFP responses. The SE collaborates with Sales, Network Engineering, and Architecture teams to design, present, and implement scalable, reliable, and performant fiber-based solutions.

Qualifications & Competencies

• 5+ years of experience in fiber network design and engineering
• Hyperscaler connectivity experience is a plus
• Strong understanding of networking protocols (Ethernet, IP, MPLS, BGP) and optical technologies (DWDM)
• Strong oral and written communications
• Excellent communication skills for customer-facing interactions and technical presentations
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment; occasional overnight travel required
• Strong PC skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
• General knowledge of the mechanics of Google Earth and/or outside plant tools
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Carrier telecommunications experience is a plus
• Internet Service Provider experience is a plus

Core Responsibilities

• Partner with Sales teams to identify customer requirements and deliver technical presentations, proposals, and solution designs
• Develop high-level and detailed network designs for fiber-based solutions, including Ethernet, IP, MPLS, DWDM, and Dark Fiber connectivity
• Ensure designs align with Carrier customer standards and compliance requirements
• Provide consultative guidance on fiber backhaul, dark fiber, and lit services
• Work closely with Network Engineering, Operations, and Product Management on emerging technologies and strategic initiatives
• Maintain accurate network documentation and solution guides for internal teams and customers
• Ensure successful implementation and integration of solutions; provide technical support during deployment and troubleshooting
• Provide support for customer appreciation events and other marketing events
