About the role
CGI Federal is looking for a Solutions Engineer to deliver client facing applications, integrations, and automation that streamline operations and improve business processes. This role is software development–focused and requires strong engineering fundamentals. This position is located in Detroit, Michigan.
Responsibilities
- Manage and modernize databases and data platforms, ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable operations across Access, SQL, Dataverse, and Power Platform solutions.
- Develop automation and applications using tools like VBA, .NET, Power Automate, Copilot, and AutoHotkey to improve data quality and streamline business processes.
- Drive technical strategy, documentation, and continuous improvement across the team.
- Design and support Power Apps using Dataverse as the primary data platform.
- Build and maintain Dataverse tables, relationships, business rules, and security roles.
- Optimize Dataverse performance, storage, and data flows.
- Integrate Dataverse with SQL systems, Access databases, API sources, and Power Automate.
- Develop Power Automate flows for synchronization, validation, and database automation.
- Provide guidance for Power Platform development across teams.
- Use Copilot to accelerate development, generate scripts, improve queries, and draft documentation.
- Validate AI generated output for compliance, accuracy, and security.
- Recommend AI opportunities that reduce manual work, improve data quality, and streamline processes.
- Use VBA to automate business processes and build dynamic forms and reports.
- Develop Access based applications and custom .NET/C# solutions.
- Implement API integrations to extend system capabilities.
- Identify risks, security concerns, and lifecycle issues; recommend mitigation strategies.
- Deliver high quality technical tasks on time.
- Maintain technical documentation and project materials.
- Apply creative problem solving to design robust, maintainable solutions.
- Track industry trends and provide modernization recommendations.
- Build and maintain AHK scripts to streamline repetitive workflows and interactions with systems.
- Standardize and harden AutoHotkey automation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 1 – 4 years of professional experience in software development; applications and/or integrations.
- Experience supporting or administering solutions built on Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps, Dataverse, and Power Automate.
- Proficiency in at least one of the following: Python, Java, C#/.NET, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Experience with database technologies such as MySQL, MS SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB.
- Familiarity with AI assisted development tools, particularly Microsoft Copilot.
- Strong interpersonal skills; role is team based and client facing.
- Strong debugging/problem solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products (InfoPath, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint).
Pay
A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $89,600.00 – $198,400.00.
