The position holds strategic importance within the Marines Indo-Pacific Region and the PACRIM territory, supporting approximately $50M in annual revenue and covering over 100 million square miles across 16 time zones, representing roughly 52 percent of the DoD’s force projection.
As a Solutions Engineer, you will function as a technical sales professional, owning the Cisco brand with customers and partners. The role provides technical solutions to address customer and partner business needs, collaborating with the Account Executive (AE) and aligned Architecture AEs on the customer plan to jointly ensure customer success. You will serve as an authority or trusted technical advisor to the account team and customer/partner.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate solid understanding of Cisco's portfolio, including any specialized/architecture perspective.
- Increase penetration via cross-selling, up-selling, and displacing competition.
- Lead the technical relationship with customer(s)/partner(s).
- Engage with IT and decision-makers at customer/partner organizations, including LOB interaction.
- Possess knowledge of the customer environment and market, including competitor plays.
- Serve as a primary technical sales influencer.
- Translate customer needs into technical requirements.
- Spend most selling time landing opportunities and expanding within an account.
- Participate in territory strategic planning.
- Provide active feedback to relevant sales teams on strategic customer needs, market opportunities, and competitive market tactics.
- Take the lead on moving deals across the technical sales process.
- Design and communicate relevant solutions based on technical and business requirements identified by the customer or partner.
- Manage a virtual support team of sales resources.
- Leverage relevant tools and resources to support a deal.
- Be accountable for achieving technical closure.
- Increase revenue by converting closed opportunities into closed deals.
- Displace competitors and increase market share.
- Increase net new customers on a quarterly basis.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience selling or supporting security, networking, compute, and/or collaboration solutions.
- CCNA-level understanding or background in campus network design, including switching, wireless, and routing.
- 2+ years of experience translating sophisticated technical concepts into business value.
- Must be able to obtain a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in a customer-facing sales engineering or technical pre-sales role.
- Cisco CCNP Enterprise (CCNP EN) certification or Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) certification.
- Proven track record of success in technical sales or solutions engineering roles.
- Highly motivated with a “hunting spirit” to assist Account Executives in developing new opportunities and growing business.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with customers and partners.
- Familiarity with Cisco’s commercial market and customer base.

Pay
The starting salary range for this position is $209,100.00 to $275,100.00 for new hires in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including incentive compensation, equity, or benefits. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location, market conditions, job-related skillset, experience, qualifications, education, certifications, and/or training. Below are the full salary ranges for specific locations:
- New York City Metro Area: $229,000.00 - $344,700.00
- Non-Metro New York State & Washington State: $218,600.00 - $329,000.00
For quota-based sales roles, the ranges provided include base pay and sales target incentive compensation combined.

- Optional 10 paid days per full calendar year to volunteer.
- Eligibility to earn annual bonuses (for non-sales roles) or performance-based incentive pay (for sales roles), subject to Cisco’s policies.
- Eligibility to receive grants of Cisco restricted stock units, which vest following continued employment with Cisco for defined periods.
