Solutions Engineer

About the Role

BlastOne is a leading global supplier in the Industrial Corrosion Control Industry. The Solutions team is the Technical & Operations arm of the BlastOne Sales Department. Solutions exist so Sales Executives can focus on client engagement and strategizing opportunities. The Solutions Team selects the best solution (in conjunction with Sales and SMEs), costing that solution, and develops sales presentations and documents.

Responsibilities

• Manage opportunities through the documented pre-construction process, ensuring all appropriate steps are followed.
• Collaborate with cross-functional matrix teams to ensure seamless transition from pre-construction to project delivery.
• Develop proposals and proposal documentation.
• Ensure relevant SMEs are brought into the design phase at designated check-in points to provide industry-leading but compliant designs.
• Utilize your engineering background to provide technical oversight and guidance.
• Dedicate time weekly to work “on the business not in the business” to develop and execute strategic improvement plans for the pre-construction phase.
• Ensure established best practices are implemented for each project.
• Solicit feedback from multiple sub-contractors for each discipline.
• Tabulate meeting minutes during every client meeting and distribute within 24 hours.
• Obtain input from Delivery PM and Engineering at established check-in points, and solicit cost/timeframe buy-in.
• Create high-quality 3D renderings of solutions.
• Implement quality control measures to guarantee accuracy and completeness of pre-construction deliverables.
• Conduct regular audits to assess adherence to quality standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in project management with a focus on industrial equipment and construction.
• Experience leading multiple $15m+ projects in industrial equipment, construction, or related fields with demonstrated client satisfaction and profitability.
• Led high-performing cross-functional teams across multiple projects.
• Experience pitching and winning with high-profile clients.
• Sub-contractor management experience.
• Design & Build project methodology expertise.
• Construction planning, estimating, budgeting, and forecasting skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Extremely high level of task/project ownership.
• Excellent organizational and critical thinking skills.
• High sense of urgency—prefer action over inaction.
• Strong commercial/sales/marketing sense and business acumen.
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Socially skilled with a flair for presentation.
• Excellent at follow-up (persistent).
• Creative thinker who doesn’t take no for an answer.
• Team player.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive/SharePoint, and Project.
• Remote meeting technology experience (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype, WebEx).
• Formal PMP Certification preferred.
• Willingness to work from an open-plan office at least 80% of the time (some remote work acceptable).
• Standard workweek: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
• 4–6 days of US/Canadian travel per month.
• US Passport holder.
