About the role

The Solutions Architect (SA) is a subject matter expert (SME) and technology thought leader who contributes their deep knowledge of process and technology to the core team for each Sports Media & Entertainment (M&E) project. The SA provides direction and advice through the project life cycle from sales concept to design development, construction drawings to implementation support. As the technical thought leader on a project team, the SA is instrumental in the determination and execution of client and system requirements and will collaborate with Sports M&E SMEs and project teams as required.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to complex engagements and works directly with clients and project teams to develop basis of design, budgets, timelines, and manage expectations.
  • Conceptualize system designs and determine system requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise and coordination information to support the base building tasks performed by others, and planning of audio, video, and control solutions.
  • Maintain expertise in the industry through ongoing review of trade publications, participation in industry trade shows, seminars, and educational forums.
  • Evaluate RFP documents to identify risks, scope gaps and alternative solutions.
  • Work with vendors to develop alternative solutions and or cost saving measures.
  • Develop detailed design documentation strategy based on established engineering standard practices.
  • Track engineering team tasks to completion.
  • Generate functional system descriptions, workflow narratives, and accompanying sketches.
  • Support projects and teams in build phase.
  • Provide regular project engineering milestone status updates to Technical Operations resource planning.
  • Evaluate Vendor responses to RFP requests to determine if the quoted solution appropriately responds to the RFP requirements.
  • Contribute technical expertise for the creation and later reconciliation of the complete construction drawing package, support documentation for installation and coordination with architect and other trades.
  • Monitor project testing, commissioning, and configuration activities during project deployment.
  • Research, identify, and recommend technology options for clients and projects.
  • Support projects and teams in build phase.
  • Provide regular project engineering milestone status updates to Technical Operations resource planning.

Requirements

  • 15+ years’ experience in Sports / Media/ Entertainment (M&E) technical systems design for Stadium / Arena Video Production Systems.
  • Extensive experience with SMPTE 2110 Routing Orchestration and Network Architecture and Digital AV networks (e.g. Dante / AES67).
  • Understanding of TCP/IP routing, ACL’s, QoS, VLAN’s and Wireless Access Points; network certifications preferred.
  • SDI Based Routing and Production Systems Stadium / Arena Broadcast Cabling Solutions Production Control Rooms Camera Systems (Wired / Wireless / PTZ / HFR / HDR) Replay / Slow Motion Systems Graphics Systems and LED CMS Systems Intercom Systems (Wired / Wireless) Fiber Transmission Systems.
  • Proven ability to lead high profile client interactions, affecting high level financial & technical decisions.
  • Proven track record of successfully completing complex Sports M&E engineering projects.
  • A clear understanding of project phases; Program, Conceptualization, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documentation, Construction and Commissioning.
  • Detail oriented, independent, self-starter.
  • Exceptional time management skills with a track record for meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex issues and communicate concise succinct messages.
  • High level of problem solving and technical troubleshooting skills.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Office 365.
  • Media Asset Management Media Workflow.
  • Understanding of Cloud Audio Video Production Technology Remote Production Workflows.
