Solutions Architect III, Devices Technologies (Fulfillment Technology & Robotics)

About the role

The Device Tech team is seeking a Solution Architect to lead the technical strategy for on-premise compute and storage infrastructure across Amazon's first, middle, and last mile operations. This role is critical to ensuring our robotics and fulfillment centers have the infrastructure foundation to scale, innovate, and stay ahead of business demand.

Responsibilities

• Partner with teams across first, middle, and last mile operations to understand on-premise compute and storage requirements, anticipate future needs, and identify gaps between current capabilities and business direction.

• Evaluate market trends, emerging technologies, and vendor solutions in the compute and storage space to inform architectural decisions.

• Assist with developing forward-looking infrastructure strategies that proactively address evolving GenAI, robotics, and edge computing demands, ensuring teams are ahead of business expansion rather than reactive to it.

• Design reference architectures for on-premise compute and storage that are scalable, cost-effective, and aligned with operational requirements.

• Partner with robotics, software, and operations teams to ensure infrastructure solutions.

• Assist with new use cases and workload patterns.

• Translate complex infrastructure and technology decisions into clear recommendations for leadership audiences.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience.

• 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience.

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent.

• 8+ years of experience in infrastructure architecture, systems engineering, or related technology domains (compute, storage, networking, edge computing).

• 3+ years of experience in solution architecture, technical consulting, or infrastructure design for large-scale environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with edge computing, robotics infrastructure, or fulfillment/logistics environments.

• Knowledge of emerging GenAI compute requirements (GPU/accelerator infrastructure, inference at the edge).

• Experience with on-premise storage architectures (SAN, NAS, object storage, HCI).

• Familiarity with server hardware platforms, ARM/x86 architectures, and fleet-scale infrastructure management.

• Experience in capacity planning and total cost of ownership analysis for large device fleets.

• Knowledge of Linux-based systems, containerization, and orchestration platforms in edge environments.

• Experience engaging with senior leadership on technology strategy.
