PG&E is providing the full salary/pay range for this position. The actual amount paid will be based on factors including internal equity, skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The range is $140,000 - $189,000, with a Bay Area maximum of $238,000. This position is also eligible for discretionary incentive compensation programs.

About the Role

The Solutions Architect, Expert is responsible for solution blueprints encompassing the conceptual, logical, and physical layers of process, application, information, integration, security, and infrastructure views within the SCADA and Protection technology domain. This role partners with Project and Program Managers as the primary technical decision-maker on projects, collaborating with stakeholders such as business architects, solutions architects, and other technology architects to establish strategic direction, reference architectures, technology standards, and design patterns.

Responsibilities

  • Future State Planning and Roadmapping: Work with business and technology partners to plan for technology change, including regulatory and financial planning, and alignment to business technology capability needs. Develop roadmaps to align across business and technology timelines.
  • Portfolio Capability Management: Manage the technology capabilities of the domain, ensuring necessary technical capabilities while managing cost and risk to the enterprise.
  • Concept and Business Case Development: Introduce changes to existing technology capabilities, developing strategies, roadmaps, and business cases in collaboration with business and technology partners.
  • Standards and Governance: Develop artifacts documenting current or future technology capabilities for reuse. Participate in governance processes as defined by the PG&E architecture practice.
  • Capabilities Assessment and Technology Oversight: Evaluate the health of technology within the focus area and develop improvement plans for the domain.
  • Architecture Practice: Shape and follow the PG&E architecture practice, driving continuous improvement, leading communities within the practice, and mentoring other architects.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and mentoring to non-architect technical staff, including subject matter experts and field telecom technicians.
  • Work autonomously on complex, high-impact problems spanning multiple functions, and manage high-complexity, high-risk projects or initiatives.
  • Influence strategies and decisions at the senior management level.

Qualifications

  • Minimum:
    • BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
    • 7 years of experience in engineering or IT-related fields.
    • Leadership experience.
  • Desired:
    • Master’s degree in engineering or a job-related discipline, or equivalent experience.
    • Professional Engineering (PE) license.
    • Experience with domain technologies and techniques related to SCADA and Protection.
    • Advanced leadership experience.

Schedule

This is a hybrid position, requiring work from a remote office and the Oakland, CA office approximately 1-2 days per week, or more, based on business needs.
