Solution Architect Position Summary
Key Responsibilities
- Lead architecture and solution design activities for products, applications, and value-stream initiatives.
- Define end-to-end solution designs encompassing application, integration, data, infrastructure, and security components.
- Make architecture decisions that support delivery objectives while maintaining technical quality and scalability.
- Translate business requirements into actionable technical designs and implementation plans.
- Ensure solutions are built to meet both immediate delivery goals and future growth needs.
- Partner with Product Managers, Product Owners, Technical Leads, and engineering teams to align architecture decisions with business priorities.
- Evaluate technical dependencies, risks, and implementation considerations to support roadmap planning.
- Provide guidance on feature scope, architectural trade-offs, and technology choices.
- Collaborate with development teams throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure successful execution.
- Facilitate technical discussions that balance customer value, technical feasibility, and operational excellence.
- Apply enterprise architecture standards, approved technology patterns, and security requirements within solution designs.
- Work closely with architecture leadership to align product-level decisions with broader organizational direction.
- Leverage shared platforms, services, and reusable capabilities whenever appropriate.
- Participate in architecture reviews and design discussions to ensure consistency and quality.
- Escalate significant architecture risks, non-standard approaches, or cross-domain challenges when necessary.
- Provide hands-on architecture support to engineering teams during design, development, and implementation efforts.
- Assist in resolving complex technical challenges that impact delivery timelines or solution quality.
- Review proposed designs and implementations to ensure alignment with architectural expectations.
- Promote effective engineering practices, maintainable system design, and high-quality technical solutions.
- Contribute to architecture knowledge sharing and best-practice development across teams.
- Provide architecture guidance during production incidents and major operational events.
- Aid in root-cause analysis and remediation planning for significant system issues.
- Ensure architectural considerations support business continuity, resilience, and service reliability requirements.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong understanding of modern application architecture, cloud technologies, APIs, integration approaches, and data-driven systems.
- Experience working within Agile, Scrum, or product-oriented delivery models.
- Ability to evaluate technical trade-offs involving cost, speed, quality, risk, and long-term maintainability.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience producing architecture artifacts, technical designs, and solution documentation.
Preferred
- Experience working in large, complex organizations with distributed technology teams.
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture practices and governance frameworks.
- Experience supporting cloud modernization and digital transformation initiatives.
- Knowledge of security, compliance, and risk-management considerations within solution design.
- Exposure to platform engineering, microservices, event-driven architectures, and DevOps practices.
