Solutions Architect
About the role
This role involves working at the business unit level to develop the end-to-end solution architecture for significant initiatives, collaborating with key business and IT stakeholders, and building a comprehensive suite of cloud-based Retail Solutions.
Responsibilities
- Develops and scales a comprehensive suite of cloud-based Retail Solutions that power various aspects of shipping and packing, as well as advanced parcel management services.
- Defines the architectural strategy for modern, cloud-native deployments and spearheads the integration of AI-enabled development tools across teams to accelerate delivery cycles and ensure robust system resilience.
- Serves as a technical leader in designing, building, and deploying highly scalable, secure, and resilient cloud-native applications.
- Leverages current-state architecture to identify strategic options for future-state architecture and develops migration plans to facilitate the transition from legacy systems to future-state platforms.
- Designs modern RESTful APIs and microservices to meet evolving business requirements.
- Supports automated software builds and releases using modern CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
- Collaborates in Agile ceremonies and follows modern SDLC processes to deliver value incrementally.
- Guides and mentors junior developers to foster professional growth and technical excellence.
- Proactively troubleshoots, debugs, and resolves complex software defects and production incidents to ensure maximum system reliability.
- Participates in peer code reviews, applying and sharing constructive feedback to maintain high code quality and architectural standards.
- Works closely with business and IT stakeholders to design solutions that balance priorities and technical constraints.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience developing enterprise software using Java, Spring Boot, and Angular, with a solid grasp of 12-factor cloud-native architecture.
- Strong understanding of RESTful API design, microservices, and server-side development.
- Proven ability to manage and deliver complex technical tasks efficiently within an Agile framework.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and collaborative problem-solving skills to work effectively and lead within a team environment.
- Architect-level cloud experience with Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information Systems, business, or equivalent formal training or work experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years equivalent work experience in information technology or engineering environment.
- Related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirement.
Skills

Schedule
The preferred location for this hybrid position is Plano, TX. However, we will consider candidates based elsewhere within the United States (excluding Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories). Candidates residing within 50 miles of a FedEx campus will be required to work on-site at a FedEx location several times per week.
