About the role
Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies, Workers Compensation Division, seeks a Solutions (Application) Architect 2 to lead technology reference implementations, shared components, and core application frameworks using Microsoft technology stack, third-party services, and proprietary builds. This role involves linking business needs to IT strategies through architectural models and ensuring systems are optimized.
Responsibilities
- Works with architecture portfolio to recommend design, development, and maintenance of Enterprise Architecture strategies.
- Promotes common reusable technology solutions and adheres to Domain Driver Design (DDD).
- Affirms immediate and long-term strategic goals and manages the technology roadmap.
- Promotes Security Development Lifecycle (SDL) and integrates it into Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- Ensures technology solutions align with solution patterns, application frameworks, and the technology roadmap.
- Identifies and implements new solutions for research and participates in proof of concept initiatives.
- Designs, customizes, and implements robust, secure, scalable systems across n-tier platforms.
- Supports the new enterprise architecture (ENCORE) and evaluates roadmaps for process improvement, including cloud strategy, DevOps, and technical delivery excellence.
- Collaborates with lines of business, support staff, and technology areas to design a technical structure based on existing standards and processes, meeting business strategic needs, and integrating with other business and IT processes.
- Defines optimal application architecture strategy for migration to the cloud.
Requirements
- Education: B.A./B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology, or alternate degree with significant IT-related and leadership experience.
- Experience: Minimum 7 years in software engineering and application development, with at least 3 years in enterprise, application, technical, or information architecture.
- Technical Skills: Proven experience with modern software development environments incorporating Agile, CI/CD, and DevOps; familiarity with Web UI technologies, JavaScript frameworks (Angular, React, Node.js), microservices, NoSQL, AWS/Azure/GCP, Docker/Kubernetes, Service Fabric, and Logic Apps; strong knowledge of security, OWASP, Visual Studio 2015/2017, TFS/Git, AzureDevOps, REST APIs, Dependency Injection, Dapper, test automation components; ability to apply technical knowledge to develop technical solutions to complex problems.
