Solution Architect SME
About the role
SOLUTIONS ARCHITECT SME
Responsibilities
- Lead solution design for enterprise technology replacement, modernization, and consolidation initiatives spanning identity, cloud infrastructure, end-user computing, networking, and endpoint management
- Serve as the solution lead throughout the project lifecycle — defining integration requirements and architectural guardrails that engineering teams and vendors are accountable for delivering against
- Act as a translator between business and technical teams, converting stakeholder requirements into actionable technical direction and reframing technical constraints into terms that drive decisions
- Work closely with project managers to define technical scope, surface risks early, review project documentation for technical accuracy, and ensure architecture deliverables align with project milestones
- Represent the solution at Architecture Review Board (ARB), Operational Readiness Review (ORR), and other governance gate reviews — synthesizing engineering and vendor inputs into a cohesive, validated solution position
- Provide technical inputs to the communications team and project managers, ensuring stakeholder-facing materials accurately reflect the solution design and current project status
- Develop and maintain internal technical documentation — including design documents, runbooks, and decision logs — that serves as the authoritative source of record across all project stakeholders
Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
Required Experience: 15+ years in enterprise IT, systems architecture, or infrastructure engineering. Demonstrated experience leading solution design for platform migrations or technology replacements, and supporting formal governance processes such as ARB, CAB, or PMO gate reviews.
Required Skills: Broad working knowledge across enterprise IT domains including identity and access management, cloud infrastructure, networking, and endpoint management; familiarity with commercial vs. FedRAMP-authorized cloud environments and how authorization levels affect solution design; ability to produce and validate architectural diagrams at logical, physical, and integration layers; strong written communication skills with the ability to produce accurate, audience-appropriate documentation.
Required Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated experience working across diverse organizational roles — including project managers, business stakeholders, and technical engineering staff — with the ability to adjust communication style and level of detail to suit each audience.
