Solution Architect III
About the role
The Solution Architect will be responsible for the deployment, implementation and migration of new and existing layer 2 and layer 3 network network elements, across multiple OEM vendor platforms and across a wide array of customers in the telecom, public and private sector. Our Solution Architect will be considered a subject matter expert and will support onsite and remote implementation and commissioning and migration of data networks as well as augmenting existing networks.
Responsibilities
- Work with 1FA Program Managers, Delivery Teams, Maintenance Team, and other cross-functional organization and groups
- Be the subject matter expert internally and the technical point of contact for external customers
- Provide guidance to field staff during the delivery phase
- Work with extended Solution Architect team to resolve technical issues
- Support onsite and remote implementation and commissioning and migration of data networks
- Augment existing networks
- Design, build, and provide support in operating global, intelligent network infrastructure to meet the requirements of high availability, scalability, and high-performance
- Communicate with internal and external customers, as well as assist other technicians with troubleshooting and knowledge sharing
- Solve complex network issues
- Maintain and follow documented procedures and processes for upgrading, implementing, and removing facilities within a data network
- Perform maintenance window work for network augmentations and migrations on high-risk deployments including complex routed ring migrations and/or point to point circuit migrations involving router changes and upgrades
- Provide system integration and support to various teams and customers to integrate with other network applications and systems
- Collaborate with team members to drive process improvement and operational excellence
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a closely related technical field, or a comparable amount of hands-on experience
- CCIE/JNCIE/CCIP/JNCIP or NOKIA certifications required or equivalent qualification or understanding of the concepts
- Strong working knowledge of enterprise networks and SD-WAN is preferred
- Strong communication skills and prior experience in presenting complex solutions to large enterprise or State and Local Government customers
- Understanding of the networking concepts and guidelines behind traditional routing, switching, and system design
- 10+ years experience with a deep understanding of OSI Layer 3 protocols and migration experience, with a general understanding of Layer 2 & 3 IP/MPLS technologies including but not limited to longhaul DWDM transport elements, MPLS routed traffic, fixed fiber access, and metro Ethernet services from design, through integration, test and turn up, and operations
Qualifications
- Provide internal and external guidance on the key customer network, data center infrastructure, and security issues
- Develop and implement network plans, network architecture design, detail design, element configurations and scripts, and methods of procedures
- Expert level troubleshooting methodology to isolate and identify configuration, design, and software anomalies; ability to articulate findings in written and verbal communications with development level engineering staff
- Create network plans, network architecture design, detail design, element configurations and scripts, and methods of procedures
- Expert level understanding of all protocols provisioned (8031, 8032, SONET, MPLS, EVPN, TCP/IP, IPv6, BGP, OSPF, ISIS BGP etc)
- Familiarity with the Optical layer (including Transponders, and extensive optical networks)
- Expertise with provisioning and commissioning of few of the following vendor equipment: Juniper QFX switch, MX480 and MX960 and various Juniper HPE routing and switching platforms Cisco: 1K, 540, 5501, 55A1, 9K etc Nokia: 7250 IXRS/IXRE, 7750 SR, 7705 SAR-8/12 etc Ciena: 5164
- Experience in design, deployment of transportation networks such as light –rail and rapid transit networks is a plus
- Strong Experience with the BGP, RIP, IPSec, Group VPN, MPLS, DGRE, QoS, IPv6, and L7 firewall (NGEN, IPS)
- Strong experience with Ethernet switching and spanning tree
- Self-starter, team player, personable, enthusiastic, hardworking, and enjoy interfacing with customers on a day to day basis
- Familiarity and understanding with RFC Standards / IETF Standards at Architect Level

- Strong interpersonal skills to support management, negotiation, and problem-solving functions of this role
- Excellent judgment and discretion; ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously and meet deadlines in high pressure scenarios
- Must be able to work independently and productively with minimal supervision
- Self-motivated, excellent communication and written skills
- Knowledge on optical transportation, OTN solution, system design, architecture, service delivery and operation is a plus
