Solution Architect
Purpose and Impact
As a Solution Architect at Amentum, you will serve as a critical technical leader, crafting innovative, executable solutions for our customers’ most complex challenges while actively contributing to the growth and success of Amentum’s capture portfolio. Collaborating closely with Capture, Proposal, and Program teams, you will design impactful technical, management, and transition solutions that address customer pain points, align with mission objectives, and differentiate Amentum in the competitive federal and Intelligence Community (IC) markets. Your expertise will drive early shaping efforts, technical proposal development, and solution delivery strategies that underpin key wins and program success. Work Schedule: Shift Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Occasional after-hours or weekend work may be required to support high-priority initiatives or deadlines. Some flexibility may be needed for on-call responsibilities. Workdays: Standard business week (Monday–Friday).
Essential Responsibilities
- Solution Development: Architect end-to-end solutions that integrate innovation, customer requirements, and technical feasibility with a balanced approach to risk and operational delivery.
- Develop proposal-ready technical artifacts, including technical volumes, graphics, and oral presentations leveraging Amentum’s proven processes and industry best practices.
- Conduct early shaping activities such as solution workshops, capability gap analysis, and technical demonstrations to position Amentum ahead of formal RFP releases.
- Research and integrate emerging technologies (e.g., AI/ML, Zero Trust architectures, cross-domain solutions, digital modernization, and automation) that enhance our solutions’ alignment with customer needs and offer clear competitive advantages.
- Partner with Pricing and Program Managers to ensure resource-loaded solutions, including staffing models, are responsive, efficient, and defensible.
- Capture & Proposal Leadership: Collaborate with Capture Managers to define win themes, articulate value propositions, and integrate technical discriminators across proposal volumes.
- Lead solution development across the lifecycle — from early capture activities through proposal submission — ensuring seamless alignment to RFP requirements, Section M evaluation criteria, and customer hot buttons.
- Drive the iterative development and refinement of technical solutions through internal reviews (Blue Teams, Pink Teams, Red Teams) to evolve compelling, customer-specific solutions.
- Lead and facilitate internal and external engagement to refine solutions with input from SMEs, teammates, and strategic partners.
- Customer Engagement & Differentiation: Serve as a trusted advisor to customers, fostering relationships that position Amentum as a leader in tailored, customer-focused technical solutions.
- Maintain awareness of competitor landscapes, leveraging market intelligence to craft ghosting narratives, technical discriminators, and strategies to outpace competitors in significant procurements.
- Engage in early customer interactions to validate solution concepts and influence acquisition strategies.
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead technical SMEs, developers, and operational experts to produce integrated, winning solution approaches.
- Actively contribute to the mentoring and growth of junior architects and capture team resources to build internal capacity and expertise.
- Ensure high-quality, repeatable solution frameworks by refining templates, reference architectures, and reusable collateral across technical domains.
- Strategic Contributions: Shape win strategies and refine integrated solution plans, ensuring alignment between technical strategies, capture objectives, and Amentum’s broader business growth goals.
- Participate in and lead discussions during capture and proposal gate reviews, ensuring compliance, alignment with priorities, and responsiveness to customer goals.
- Identify capability gaps and recommend additions to Amentum’s technical portfolio to ensure future competitiveness and mission readiness.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands
The work is primarily performed in an office environment, with potential for work in secure or classified spaces as necessary to support proposals or technical projects. Physical Demands: Primarily desk-based with the use of standard office equipment. Some travel may be required to client sites, proposal presentations, or collaboration meetings. Mental Demands: The responsibilities require strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Meeting proposal deadlines and supporting innovation initiatives may involve high-pressure scenarios and multitasking to ensure timely deliverables.
Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Knowledge of solution design for proposal purposes
- Experience participating in the technical components of proposal development, including designing innovative and compliant solutions
- Familiarity with industry tools, technologies
- Strong technical writing skills to develop clear and compelling proposal narratives detailing solution approaches and capabilities
- Ability to analyze detailed requirements and translate them into actionable, high-level designs and functional specifications
- Proficiency in collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders to align solution components with business objectives
- Organizational and time-management skills to support a fast-paced environment and meet aggressive deadlines
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related technical discipline. Equivalent, directly related work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Minimum Years of Experience
5+ years in solution architecture, technical pre-sales, systems engineering, or delivery with a focus on federal/IC missions.

Preferred Qualifications
- Proven ability to craft solutions for high-value capture efforts, including contracts valued at $100M+
- Track record of producing proposal-ready technical artifacts (e.g., solution strategies, technical volumes, security/integration plans)
- Demonstrated success leading iterative proposal efforts in collaboration with capture and proposal teams
Communication & Leadership Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experienced in presenting and defending solutions to both executive and technical audiences
Compensation Details
$190,000 - $220,000
