Other duties may be assigned based on business need and the supervisor’s request. Mecklenburg County reserves the right to revise the job description at any time. Designated positions may be required to assist in emergency and/or disaster situations. We need to remove boilerplate: cookie/navigation/legal/EEO/equal-opportunity/scam-warning boilerplate, duplicated lines, and application instructions. The "Please apply by: 10/12/26" is application instruction? Might be considered application instruction; but it's a date. The instruction says remove application instructions. So we should drop "Please apply by: 10/12/26". Also "Follow your calling, Find your career" maybe tagline; we can keep as part of About the role? It's generic marketing; maybe we can keep as part of About the role prose. We need to decide sections. Potential sections: - About the role (or Overview): includes mission statements, location, work schedule, maybe summary. - Responsibilities: essential functions list. - Requirements: Minimum Qualifications (education, experience, licenses/certs). Could combine. - Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications. - Skills: Skills list. - Knowledge, Skills And Abilities: maybe combine with Skills? But we have separate sections for Skills and Abilities. The posting has "Knowledge, Skills And Abilities" then "Skills" then "Abilities". Could treat Knowledge, Skills And Abilities as a combined section? But we need to follow rule: use headings only if real specific content. We could create sections: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (maybe as one heading). But we also have separate Skills and Abilities lists later. Might be redundant. Better to follow the posting's structure: we could have a section "Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities" containing the bullet list from that heading. Then separate "Skills" and "Abilities" sections for the later lists. However that may be repetitive. But we must preserve all substantive info; we can keep them as separate sections if they have distinct content. Check content: Knowledge, Skills And Abilities list includes: - Knowledge of Equipment used in solid waste operations maintenance, and construction - Occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions applicable to safe operation of this equipment - Lock out Tag out procedures - Customer service methodology, and communication with customers using disposal facilities - Safe work practices and hazards associated with work - Use of the tools, equipment, supplies, and methods used in the maintenance activities - Thorough knowledge of state traffic laws and regulations - Working knowledge of heavy equipment maintenance - Working knowledge of computers Then Skills list includes many items like: - Operating large complex Diesel and hydraulic equipment - Performing work, sometimes in adverse weather conditions - Ability to interpret written plans and permit requirements of solid waste facilities - Ability to fill our daily forms in a paper or electronic format for fuel, pre/post trip of vehicles and other needs. - Ability to train others in lower classes on the safe operation of heavy equipment - Situational awareness of job sites, changing conditions and operating needs - Ability to repair and diagnose equipment - Skilled with using tools and related equipment - Skill in the operation of a variety of heavy construction equipment - Ability to read and comprehend maps - Ability to work independently - Ability to perform routine equipment maintenance and make minor repairs - Ability to safely operate equipment - Ability to lead others - Ability to work outside with regular exposure to severe weather, noxious fumes, high levels of dust, etc - Ability to comprehend and abide to safety practices - Ability to maintain effective relationships with citizens, employees and supervisors - Ability to follow oral and written instructions Abilities list includes: - Adaptability: Maintaining effectiveness when experiencing major changes in work responsibilities or environment; adjusting effectively to work within new work structures, processes, requirements or cultures - Communication: Clearly conveying information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the information provided - Contributing to Team Success: Actively participating as a member of a team to move the team toward the completion of goals - Energy: Consistently maintaining high levels of activity or productivity; operating with vigor, effectiveness, and determination over extended periods of time - Managing Work: Effectively managing one’s time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently - Safety Awareness: Identifying and correcting conditions that affect employee safety; upholding safety standards - Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills: Having achieved a satisfactory level of technical and professional skill or knowledge in position-related areas; keeping up with current developments and trends in area of expertise Computer Skills: Basic understanding of applicable computer programs Ability to use electronic equipment related to heavy equipment, such as routing tablets, engine diagnostic devices and drive cams. Work Environment: Works in outdoor exposed to weather conditions Selection: This classification has been identified as having a role in the development of ADA compliant technologies and for which the incumbent agrees to follow County policies to the best of their abilities in order to meet these obligations. No Reasonable Accommodations Statement: To accomplish this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, each essential function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to help enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Disclaimer Statement: This is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of job-related responsibilities, duties, skills, requirements or working conditions. Other duties may be assigned based on business need and the supervisor’s request. Mecklenburg County reserves the right to revise the job description at any time. Designated positions may be required to assist in emergency and/or disaster situations. We need to remove boilerplate like Disclaimer, Selection? The instruction says remove cookie/navigation/legal/EEO/equal-opportunity/scam-warning boilerplate, duplicated lines, and application instructions. The Disclaimer and Selection might be considered legal boilerplate? Possibly we should remove them. However they contain substantive info about ADA compliant technologies and reasonable accommodations. The instruction says remove legal/EEO/equal-opportunity/scam-warning boilerplate. The "No Reasonable Accommodations Statement" is about accommodations, which is EEO-related. Likely we should remove that. The Selection about ADA compliant technologies maybe also EEO-related; could be removed. The Disclaimer is definitely legal boilerplate; remove. Thus we keep: About the role (mission, location, work schedule, position summary), Responsibilities (essential functions), Requirements (minimum qualifications: education, experience, licenses/certs), Qualifications (preferred qualifications), Skills (skills list), Knowledge, Skills And Abilities (knowledge list), Abilities (abilities list), Computer Skills, Work Environment, Pay (salary range), maybe Benefits? Not present. Schedule? We have work schedule: Position may work rotating weekends. That's schedule info. So we can include Schedule section. Pay: Salary Range: $28 - $31.81/hourly. Also mention non-exempt (hourly) position, pay rates based on education, skill, experience level and internal equity. That's substantive; we can include Pay section. Benefits: Not mentioned; omit. Now we need to format. We must not repeat job title as heading. No job title given explicitly; we can ignore. We must not put Job ID/requisition numbers as headings; none. We must use

for section headings. Use
  • for any list of duties/requirements/benefits, and

for prose. We need to decide which content is prose vs list. Prose: About the role paragraph(s) (mission, location, work schedule, position summary). Could be multiple paragraphs. Responsibilities: essential functions list ->

    • . Requirements: Minimum Qualifications (education, experience, licenses/certs) could
