Solar Project Manager- Construction

Responsibilities

  • Develop, communicate, and manage detailed construction schedules and responsibilities for the construction team.
  • Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of construction activities to ensure all project milestones are met on time.
  • Ensure that all construction work adheres to safety standards, local building codes, and environmental regulations.
  • Collaborate with development and engineering teams to establish construction timelines and budgets based on preliminary designs.
  • Manage the procurement of materials and services, ensuring that construction resources are available and aligned with project needs.
  • Supervise and coordinate subcontractors, ensuring adherence to contracts and delivery timelines.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, tracking costs and mitigating any budget overruns.
  • Prepare and submit regular progress reports for clients and internal teams, including cost tracking, scheduling updates, and any project changes.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring their satisfaction with construction progress and addressing concerns or changes promptly.
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess construction progress, quality, and safety; resolve any issues on-site in real time.
  • Maintain accuracy in construction documentation, including daily reports, change orders, and safety logs.
  • Ensure all permits are in place and coordinate with local municipalities for inspections and compliance.
  • Coordinate site-specific safety programs and maintain an OSHA-compliant work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years of solar construction project management experience, with experience managing projects of at least 1 MW or larger.
  • Strong understanding of construction best practices, materials, and solar installation processes.
  • Proven experience managing and directing construction crews and subcontractors.
  • Knowledge of Distributed Generation (DG) solar projects and related infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with permitting, inspection processes, and regulatory requirements for solar installations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage teams and foster collaboration.
  • Proficiency in project management software such as MS Project, Procore, and AutoCAD.
  • OSHA 10 certification (required); OSHA 30 certification (preferred).
  • NABCEP professional certification (preferred).
  • PMP or similar project management certification (preferred).
  • Willingness and ability to travel regionally based on project locations.

Additional Information

  • Travel Requirements: Regional travel will be required to project sites for site inspections, progress meetings, and other construction-related activities.
  • Work Environment: The role involves both office and on-site work. Construction managers are expected to be hands-on during the active construction phases and ensure projects run smoothly at all stages.

Pay

$70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
