Role Responsibilities
- Test, maintain, and troubleshoot solar PV electrical equipment
- Ensure that all assigned maintenance tasks are performed safely and by site operating procedures established for Storage PV sites
- Complete Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO), JSA’s, Permit to Work, and job-specific documentation that is required to conduct maintenance and repairs in a safe manner
- Proactively look for improvement opportunities to job appropriate processes and procedures
- Perform data collection and prepare reports to meet reporting requirements, documenting all work
- Perform and assist with balance of plant and switchyard work as required including substation and collection system maintenance
- Perform maintenance on trackers, inverters, and other PV electrical equipment as assigned by the Site Supervisor or Lead
- Maintain accountability and readiness of plant tools, equipment, and vehicles
- Maintain the work ethic and culture of the plant O&M team
- Monitor the activities of maintenance contractors and ensure corrective actions where appropriate
- Perform current and voltage readings as necessary
- Identify gaps in safety standards and safety risks in the environment
- Use available tools to monitor energy output and respond quickly to emergencies or situations requiring immediate troubleshooting and corrective actions
- Ensure site access, site HSE, security, deliveries, and inspections are performed by site protocols
- Interface with any third party contractors working at our facilities
- Adequate communication skills to interface with third party contractors
- Available to respond to nontraditional operating hours for operations, maintenance, and emergent issues, including emergent abnormal operating conditions, execution of maintenance, tracking work orders, resolution of O&M issues
Job Requirements and Experiences
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Associates degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited US school other than correspondence or internet preferred
- NABCEP Certfication or Electrical License preferred
- Licenses or Certifications: Experience substitutions include Current Journeyman and/or Current Master Elecrician License
- Unrestricted driver license in good standing
- Minimum 6 years of work experience as a maintenance electrician (commercial or industrial); experience as a multi-craft maintenance technician performing electrical work on operating equipment; experience in operations and maintenance of power generation, transmission, or distribution
- Preference will be given to the candidate with some renewable energy experience, preferably solar
- Must be skilled in at least one of the following: power plant operations, electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance; substation maintenance
- Ability to fill out JHA/LOTO/Tailboard forms without assistance
- Competence in power plant safety protocols
- Competence in electrical safety
- Knowledge of and experience with the use of hand and power tools
- Knowledge of environmental and safety policies and procedures
- Ability to work within tight deadlines, and evolving schedules
- Ability and willingness to travel to and from job sites as assigned, including supporting other sites
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Routine operation of a computer/tablet and other office productivity machineries, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
- Frequent oral and written communications—must communicate verbally at a high level
- Shift work—Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required
- Complete all required training in a satisfactory manner and timeframe
- Adaptive to new technologies and methods
- Able to take ownership of responsibilities and look beyond the work task, with regards to discovering new opportunities for corrective work
- Initiative - Able to work with minimum supervision and make decisions for all issues related to his/her discipline(s) with limited and/or available information
- Able to prepare & present technical presentations with assistance
- Able to multi-task, while working independently and as part of a team
- Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
- Ability to walk, climb, and stand extensively during the work day
- Ability to push/pull/lift tools and equipment weighing up to and over 50 lbs.
