Solar Designer

About the Role

Q CELLS Home Energy Solutions seeks a Solar Designer with specialized expertise in the Home Energy System division. This position may be based remotely within the United States or out of our Irvine, CA office. Work location and any in-office expectations will be determined by the direct manager in accordance with business needs and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Utilize AutoCAD to generate solar blueprints adhering to jurisdictional, utility, Enfin, and Lightreach requirements.
• Become a subject matter expert on the Qcells Q.Home battery system, Q.Home modules, and pairings with other residential product offerings.
• Identify factors affecting the scope of work, including project cost and installation complexity.
• Collaborate with regional construction managers to establish rapport and maintain direct communication between engineering and field operations.
• Work with sales organizations to overcome roadblocks and improve future sales efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field with a minimum of 5-8+ years of experience in an engineering role, including 3-5 years in solar system design and engineering.
• Experience with AutoCAD.
• Strong understanding of NEC and CRC code.
• Experience with permitting processes with local authorities having jurisdiction.
• Impeccable attention to detail and strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present vision and strategy in internal and external forums.

Pay

The salary range is required by the California Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of candidates hired nationwide. Actual compensation is influenced by skill set, education, licenses, certifications, essential job duties, and experience relative to the job’s minimum qualifications.
