Software Test Engineer

Teledyne Brown Engineering (TBE) is hiring an experienced Software Test Engineer to join our Medical Modeling and Simulation (MM&S) team in support of the Naval Health Research Center (NHRC). The team provides software engineering, model and simulation development, analysis, technical support, and training to support medical systems analyses, logistics analyses, operational risk assessments, and theater medical course of action assessments across the Department of Defense (DoD).

Responsibilities

• Reviewing software requirements
• Preparing/reviewing test cases
• Preparing/reviewing test procedures
• Conducting software test and data analyses
• Evaluating test results
• Reporting software defects
• Generating test reports
• Providing feedback to software development team

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field
• Minimum of 2-4 years of relevant work experience (5 or more years preferred)
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Must be able to obtain a DoD Security Clearance

Skills

• Demonstrated ability to design and execute automated functional, integration, and regression tests to validate simulation workflows, algorithms, model outputs, and system performance
• Proficiency with one or more scripting or statistical computing languages such as Python, R, or PowerShell
• Excellent troubleshooting and critical thinking skills with an ability to independently analyze configurations and system behaviors via output data and/or review of applicable software source code
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced testing environment, while working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to describe issues to both the software development team and technical leadership
• Ability to complete tasks on time and in compliance with AS9100 and CMMI Maturity Level 3 processes/procedures

Preferred Skills/Experience

• Experience with TestRail or similar test management software
• Experience with Microsoft Azure DevOps or similar project management system
• Experience extracting data using Structured Query Language (SQL)
• Experience developing Test Plans, Test Procedures, and Test Reports
• Experience with automated unit testing of web applications using xUnit, NUnit, Moq, or comparable testing frameworks
• Formal training and/or certification in software testing
• Experience working within the Department of Defense
• Experience working within the Military Health System
• Experience using modeling and simulation software
