Software Test Automation Engineer
About the role
The Software Test Automation Engineer will support PeopleTec's operations in Huntsville, AL. This position requires a high level of expertise in creating and executing test plans, unit testing, and end-to-end testing.
Responsibilities
- Design, create, and document software development and infrastructure processes, including design specifications and test plans.
- Implement and manage automated testing frameworks and scripts to support efficient, repeatable testing processes.
- Lead the design and execution of unit and end-to-end testing processes to ensure robust, reliable, and high-quality software products.
- Act as a subject matter expert, providing guidance to other team members on automation testing best practices, test case development, and effective testing methodologies.
- Work closely with development, DevOps, and product teams to align on testing strategies, resolve issues, and improve overall testing efficiency.
Qualifications
- Required Skills/Experience:
- 5-10+ years of experience in software testing, with a focus on test automation.
- Proficiency in test automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress, or similar frameworks.
- Strong understanding of testing methodologies including unit testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testing.
- Experience in test plan creation for complex applications, with a deep understanding of functional, regression, and performance testing.
- Excellent communication skills: Ability to clearly document and explain testing procedures and results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with GitLab for code repositories and pipelines.
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative environment composed of Government, Prime Contractor, Support Contractor, and other Government agencies/personnel.
- Candidate must be confident in his/her ability to work across a vast organizational structure to effectively communicate complex technical issues.
- Travel as required (estimated 10%).
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- An active DoD Secret clearance is required to perform this work.
- Candidates are required to have an active Secret clearance upon hire, and the ability to maintain this level of clearance during their employment.
- Education Requirements: Bachelor's in STEM field.
- Desired Skills: Familiarity with agile methodologies and participation in agile teams, with experience in sprint planning and backlog grooming.
