Job Summary
General Atomics Systems Integration, LLC (GA-SI) is a provider of military and commercial engineering services. We are seeking a Software Systems Engineering Manager at our General Atomics Systems Integration (GA-SI) group in Kaysville, UT.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage GA-SI Software Systems Engineering activities including the creation, development, and sustainment of software systems primarily for embedded controls and testing.
- Oversight of software tools, development and improvement of software processes, and all software documentation for internal use and program deliverables.
- Support the development of Software architectures and requirements in conjunction with other engineering organizations.
- Manage planning and managing technical performance of personnel resources to ensure quality, schedule, and financial objectives are met.
- Manage all phases of assigned software projects from inception through completion.
- Ensure technical leadership and excellence is maintained by participating in the planning, attraction, selection, retention, and development of the required management, professional, and technical talent.
- Lead progress review sessions to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance.
- Act as primary contact for Software Systems Engineering activities.
- Identify technical issues and provide leadership in developing solutions such as re-allocation of resources or modifying contract specifications.
- Oversee the interactions of Software Systems Engineering staff with customers, suppliers, and support organizations.
- Interact with internal and external representatives at various levels concerning resolution of technical and scheduling issues.
- Participate with technical staff, program managers and/or Division/Group executive management to develop and implement current, annual and long-term technical, schedule, quality, business and financial objectives.
- Manage the development of and ensure the security of the Division proprietary technology and maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Contribute to the development of annual and long-term objectives for the Engineering Services Division.
- May be responsible for decisions that impact outcomes where erroneous decisions could cause serious schedule delays and expenditure of additional time, resources and funds.
Qualifications
- Typically requires a Bachelors, Masters or PhD in engineering or a related technical field as well as eleven or more years of progressively complex software engineering experience.
- Must demonstrate a technical expertise in software development including applicable engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practices.
- Project management and leadership skills that include organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones.
- The ability to resolve complex management and technical problems.
- Experience with the development of software systems from inception to integration into the end product.
- Experience with software certification and testing for aerospace applications.
- Experience with aircraft braking systems and controls.
- Experience with software tools for developing and managing requirements, code, and software verification testing.
- Experience with Agile methods and planning for software development along with the associated tools, such as Atlassian Jira.
- A working knowledge of SAE ARP4754, RTCA DO-178, and other FAA and Military standards and requirements.
- Must possess the ability to resolve complex management and technical problems.
- Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.
- Customer focused, must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment, and able to work extended hours and travel as required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance in required.
