Software Quality Engineer Senior – Performance

About the Role

We’re looking for the next generation of health care leaders to join our team as a Software Quality Engineer Senior (Performance). This role focuses on performance testing initiatives across enterprise applications, APIs, microservices, and cloud platforms. You will design and execute performance tests, identify bottlenecks, analyze system behavior under load, and collaborate with development, infrastructure, and architecture teams to enhance application scalability and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Performance Test Planning & Execution:
    • Understand nonfunctional requirements to assess performance needs.
    • Design, develop, and execute performance, load, stress, endurance, and scalability tests.
    • Create and maintain reusable JMeter test scripts and frameworks.
    • Analyze application performance against SLAs, KPIs, and business requirements.
    • Develop workload models and realistic test scenarios based on production usage patterns.
    • Automate performance testing activities within CI/CD pipelines.
  • Monitoring & Analysis:
    • Configure and maintain performance monitoring dashboards using Grafana.
    • Collect, store, and analyze test metrics using InfluxDB.
    • Monitor application, infrastructure, and database performance during test execution.
    • Correlate application logs, server metrics, and response times to identify root causes.
    • Generate performance reports with actionable recommendations.
  • Scripting & Automation:
    • Develop reusable JMeter-based test scripts and scenarios.
    • Create automation utilities and performance test frameworks using Groovy/Python.
    • Implement dynamic data handling, parameterization, and correlation techniques.
    • Automate result collection, trend analysis, and reporting processes.
  • Performance Engineering:
    • Identify application bottlenecks across all tiers (Web, API, Database).
    • Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to tune applications, web servers, databases, and networks.
    • Support capacity planning and scalability assessments.
  • DevOps & Continuous Testing:
    • Integrate performance tests into CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD and Jenkins.
    • Maintain version control for performance scripts and test assets.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • At least seven (7) years of experience in Performance Testing and Performance Engineering.
  • At least five (5) years of hands-on experience with JMeter.
  • Experience building Grafana dashboards and managing InfluxDB environments.
  • Strong understanding of web protocols, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
  • Experience analyzing JVM, database, and infrastructure performance metrics.
  • Prior experience as an Automation Senior in the Healthcare Industry is strongly preferred.

Skills

  • Performance Testing Tools: Apache JMeter (Expert), BlazeMeter (preferred), LoadRunner (nice to have).
  • Monitoring & Observability: Grafana, InfluxDB, Prometheus, Splunk (preferred).
  • Scripting & Programming: JMeter, Groovy, Java, Python, Bash/Shell scripting, PowerShell.
  • Other Skills: Performance Engineering, Root Cause Analysis, Problem Solving, Automation Mindset, Capacity Planning, Stakeholder Communication, Cross-functional Collaboration.

Work Arrangement

This is a 100% remote position, but you must reside in the EST or CST time zones.
