The Digital and Photonics R&D team develops the world’s highest performance oscilloscopes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of multi-talented software engineers to invent, design, and develop new, world-leading time-domain measurement instruments in collaboration with a multi-functional, global team.
  • Own the software architecture of sampling oscilloscopes, planning and executing one or more software releases per year to deliver new products and/or measurement features to market.
  • Balance customer-facing requirements with technical judgment to align on scope, investment cost, and schedule.
  • Guide the software team through the full product development lifecycle, including backlog definition, sprint planning, feature prioritization, QA, and release deployment.
  • Practice secure software development and manage technical debt (OS refresh, toolchain evolution, architecture refactoring) within each release plan.
  • Collaborate with sampling scope, OF NPI, and DP-COE leadership, as well as customer-facing teams, field sales, Keysight Labs, and global manufacturing leaders.
  • Grow engineering talent through evaluation, coaching, and performance optimization to support the success of the sampling R&D teams.
  • Support customers by presenting technical information, occasionally visiting global customer sites to assist with product integration.

Qualifications

  • Significant software development knowledge and electronic product expertise to make timely design and execution tradeoff decisions.
  • Track record of leading engineering teams to deliver projects involving new software integrated with new hardware within time, cost, and scope constraints.
  • BS or MS degree in an Engineering major with strong software development skills and 2-4 years of related project leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to discuss performance, cost, and schedule tradeoffs, align on execution plans, and track progress.
  • Experience handling changes to project plans and resolving issues effectively.
  • Success in leading software development projects with expertise in backlog management, sprint planning, and progress tracking.
  • Knowledge of software quality practices, including triage, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
  • Enjoyment of working with diverse, multi-functional teams to deliver designs into global volume manufacturing.
  • Evidence of talent development skills and optimizing team productivity and creativity.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a global team.
  • Strong quantitative data analysis skills and experience with budget management and cost tradeoffs.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and lead teams through change.
  • Strong time management and ability to work independently with available mentors.
  • Pluses:
  • Evidence of leading strategic discussions, such as future roadmap development.
  • Ability to make crisp tactical decisions with incomplete information and articulate them effectively.
  • Hands-on experience setting up optical and electrical measuring instruments for testing and evaluation.
  • Experience with IP protection and export control requirements.
  • Ability to represent technical expertise persuasively to end-use customers.
  • Examples of high-risk tradeoff decisions and the methodology behind them.

Pay

California Pay Range: Minimum $163,950.00, Midpoint $218,600.00, Maximum $273,250.00.

This position is on-site in Santa Rosa, California. Relocation is available, but visa sponsorship is not offered.
