About the role
The Software Product Specialist serves as the subject matter expert for Metrohm's software platforms, with primary responsibility for OMNIS Client/Server (C/S) implementations and support. This role leads software consultations, installation projects, customer training, and post-installation support while acting as a key liaison between laboratory personnel, customer IT departments, and Metrohm teams.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Software Consultation & Implementation
- Serve as the technical expert for Metrohm software platforms, with primary focus on OMNIS C/S.
- Conduct pre-sales consultations and assess customer laboratory environments to recommend appropriate software and instrument configurations.
- Lead installation, configuration, validation, and implementation of OMNIS C/S and related software platforms.
- Partner with customer IT teams to ensure successful deployment within laboratory and enterprise network environments.
- Aid customers with software migrations, upgrades, and workflow optimization initiatives.
- Customer Training & Support
- Deliver customer onboarding and training programs.
- Lead live, virtual, and tiamo-to-OMNIS conversion training events.
- Provide post-installation support across software, instrumentation, networking, database, and workflow-related issues.
- Support Field Service Engineers working in customer-networked environments.
- Develop trusted relationships with customers by providing timely and effective technical guidance.
- Internal Systems & Product Support
- Maintain and troubleshoot internal application servers, laboratory systems, field demonstration units, and software test environments.
- Support software release testing, validation activities, release communications, and organizational training initiatives.
- Aid with software maintenance and support contract delivery.
- Document best practices, technical procedures, and training materials.
- Business & Product Collaboration
- Collaborate with Product Managers to support software adoption and revenue growth initiatives.
- Gather customer feedback regarding product enhancements, market needs, and emerging technology trends.
- Share knowledge related to software releases, competitive offerings, laboratory informatics trends, and industry developments.
- Represent Metrohm as a trusted technical advisor for laboratory software solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related scientific or technical discipline.
- Experience supporting laboratory software systems, laboratory instrumentation software, or laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
- Working knowledge of software validation and regulated laboratory environments.
- Experience with laboratory networks, software deployments, or enterprise applications.
- Strong customer-facing experience with technical troubleshooting and training.
Preferred
- Experience with analytical instrumentation, particularly titration systems.
- Knowledge of client/server software architecture, database systems, and data migration.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Server environments, Active Directory, SQL databases, and network configuration concepts.
- Understanding of data integrity, compliance, and regulatory requirements such as FDA 21 CFR Part 11 and similar standards.
Compensation
This position offers a competitive compensation package consisting of base salary plus a performance-based bonus. Bonus eligibility is tied to individual performance and achievement of defined business and growth objectives.
