About the role

We are seeking a hands-on, technically strong Software Engineering Manager to lead our software development efforts. This role involves setting project timelines, allocating resources, and tracking progress against milestones. You will also provide technical guidance and expertise to the development team, championing AI engineering, improving system performance and reliability, conducting code reviews, and making technical contributions.

Responsibilities

  • Champion AI engineering by encouraging the team to integrate AI across the SDLC.
  • Improve system performance and reliability.
  • Conduct code reviews and make technical contributions.
  • Allocate resources effectively, including personnel, budget, and time.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Continuously assess and improve software development processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Evaluate the performance of team members and implement strategies for professional development and improvement.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and train new staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years in leadership role.
  • 7+ years of engineering experience.
  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experience.
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live site operations.
  • Proven experience with C#, Angular, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
  • Proven experience with Azure cloud architecture (App Services, Service Bus, Azure SQL, and related services).
  • Proven experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices (Azure DevOps, TeamCity, Octopus).
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code).

Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience.

  • 7+ years of engineering experience.
  • 8+ years of experience leading the development of multi-tier web services.

  • Competitive Compensation: $170,000 - $180,000 USD; $150,000 - $160,000 CAD
