About the role
Salesforce MuleSoft is seeking a passionate and innovative Lead Software Engineer (LMTS) to join the platform engineering team. The role involves shaping system architecture and technical strategy, building high-quality software, architecting scalable microservices, and mentoring engineers.
Responsibilities
- Shape team's system architecture and technical strategy for integration and API platform capabilities
- Design, build, and deliver high-quality, production-grade software using modern engineering practices, with AI as a core part of your development workflow
- Architect and orchestrate complex, scalable microservices and integration systems where APIs and data flows connect Salesforce products and customer ecosystems
- Maintain stability, scalability, and security of the platform while focusing on performance, scalability, security, and future extensibility
- Develop efficient components and algorithms within a microservices-based, multi-tenant SaaS cloud environment
- Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, and provide technical guidance to drive high standards across the team
- Develop test strategies, design automation frameworks, and write unit/functional tests to drive code coverage and automation metrics
- Participate in the team's on-call rotation to address complex problems in real-time and keep services highly available
Requirements
- 10+ years of software development experience with large-scale distributed systems
- Mastery of one or more: Java, Python, Scala, Go, Node.js (Java strongly preferred for MuleSoft platform work)
- Deep understanding of MuleSoft Anypoint Platform — Anypoint Studio, DataWeave 2.0, API Manager, Runtime Manager, Exchange, MQ
- Strong experience with REST/SOAP/GraphQL API design and microservices architecture
- Experience designing and developing distributed systems at scale on public cloud — AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Strong SQL and NoSQL database skills (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redshift, etc.)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and DevOps practices
- Deep understanding of security standards: OAuth 2.0, JWT, mTLS, SAML
- Proficiency in Kubernetes/Docker and cloud-native infrastructure
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred / Nice to Have
- MuleSoft Certifications: Certified Developer L1/L2, Integration Architect, Platform Architect
- Experience with Kafka, Airflow, or event-driven architectures
- Familiarity with Agentforce / AI-integrated workflows
- Experience with MUnit testing, Splunk monitoring, and incident management
- Prior experience in the MuleSoft T&P Planning Org or integration platform engineering

Pay
The typical base salary range for this position is $172,500 - $260,100 annually.
