Software Engineering Intern

About the role
First American is a global leader in real estate services with a diverse portfolio including Title Insurance, Settlement Services, Lender and Servicer Solutions, Real Estate Data Solutions, Home Warranty and Insurance, Trust Services, and International Services. Our Technology Engineering team drives the digital transformation of the real estate title and closing process. This internship is open to university students based near our Southern California headquarters or anywhere in the continental USA, offering hands-on experience in technology.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a dynamic and supportive team of backend and frontend engineers, product managers, designers, and DevOps engineers.
- Propose ideas, implement solutions, experiment, and launch features to First American’s users and customers.
- Influence engineers, teams, and product managers across the organization to shape the full product lifecycle.
- Maintain high standards in sustainable engineering by following best practices and delivering high-quality code, documentation, testing, and monitoring.
- Gain hands-on experience with technologies such as C#, TypeScript, Python, React, NestJS, SQL, NoSQL, Elasticsearch, Kubernetes, and a variety of AWS services.
- Use industry-standard tools like GitHub, Slack, Jira, Confluence, and LaunchDarkly.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree at an accredited university.
- Majoring in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems.
- Prior exposure to best practices through hackathons, design challenges, university projects, or previous internships.

Pay
$15.38 - $20.48 hourly (remote). This hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position at the time of posting. Pay is based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements, and geographic location.
