Software Engineer- SOC & Threat Hunting
Role Summary
We’re looking to hire a Software Engineer with 2-4 years of experience to join our team. In this capacity, you will contribute to the development of specialized tools for threat hunters, SOC analysts, and incident response professionals within the Censys Platform. Your responsibilities will involve advancing our Adversary Investigation module by architecting resilient APIs and scalable microservices for our SaaS infrastructure. By collaborating with engineering and product partners, you will transform intricate needs into sustainable software that delivers vital security intelligence. Your work will empower users to navigate the global Internet, identify emerging threats, and strengthen their organizational defenses.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and enhance backend services that power core functionality across the Censys Platform
- Partner with Product, Design, and Frontend Engineers to deliver features that solve real customer problems
- Integrate with internal and external APIs to support rich, data-driven experiences
- Own the full development lifecycle by automating build, test, deployment, and monitoring workflows
- Contribute to an iterative development process that emphasizes continuous improvement and rapid feedback
- Help evolve the Censys public API as platform capabilities grow.
- Own small-to-medium features from technical design through launch, with increasing independence; participate in design discussions with guidance from senior engineers.
- Share on-call responsibilities for your areas and handle straightforward incidents with team support as needed.
What You’ll Bring
- Ideal experience writing backend services in Go (Golang) or the willingness to do so if you haven't worked with Go.
- Foundational understanding of distributed systems and common operational challenges.
- General knowledge of database design and typical access patterns.
- Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS or GCP).
- Strong collaboration, communication, and analytical troubleshooting skills.
- A track record of delivering well-defined work at high quality, knowing when to ask for clarification or help, and learning quickly from mistakes.
- Open to using AI to amplify their skills and strengthen their work - demonstrating curiosity, a willingness to learn, and sound judgment in applying AI responsibly to improve efficiency and impact.
- Experience building services on GCP.
Pay
The expected salary range for this position is $125,000 USD - $165,000 USD, plus bonus eligibility and equity. For roles that are available to be filled remotely, the pay range is localized according to employee work location by a factor of between 83% and 100% of range.
